The Vietnam U16 team entered the match against Myanmar U16 with great confidence, having previously defeated Malaysia U16 and Australia U16 consecutively with the same score of 3-0. Coach Dinh The Nam's team launched an attack right after the opening whistle, constantly putting pressure on their opponents.
However, it was U16 Myanmar who opened the scoring in the 14th minute, when player number 19 executed a dangerous free kick that goalkeeper Huu Tuan couldn't save even with a full-stretch dive.
Despite conceding an early goal, the Vietnam U16 team did not lose heart. Coach Dinh The Nam's players quickly regrouped and launched a relentless attack. Myanmar U16 focused on defending but only managed to keep a clean sheet until the 33rd minute. Duy Khiem sprinted forward after a pass from midfield, crossing the ball for Khac Khiem to tap it in, equalizing the score at 1-1.
With renewed spirits, the Vietnam U16 team attacked more incisively. And in the final minute of the first half, the white-shirted team scored their second goal. Coach Dinh The Nam's players combined seamlessly in the opponent's penalty area before Huu Thang's shot went just wide of the post, rendering goalkeeper Yan Soe's dive futile.
In the second half, the game became one-sided. Vietnam U16 launched relentless attacks while Myanmar U16 struggled to defend. Although they didn't capitalize on all the good opportunities created, Coach Dinh The Nam's team still managed to score three more goals thanks to Trong Long (52nd minute), Ngoc Tien (64th minute), and Huu Thang (69th minute) to finish the match with a 5-1 victory.
With their third consecutive win, Vietnam U16 leads Group A. Myanmar U16 is in second place with 5 points less. Although they still have two matches to play (against the Philippines U16 on July 16th and Singapore U16 on July 18th), Coach Dinh The Nam's team has virtually secured a place in the semi-finals.
In Group B, Cambodia U16 is leading with six points after two matches. Thailand U16 is three points behind but has played one less match.
