Leading us to the third-crop fish farming area of ​​Long village, Mr. Nguyen Van Thu – the village head – said: Besides the winter crop of corn, the village also has 10 households raising fish in the third crop season with an area of ​​8 hectares. Raising fish in the third crop season here is quite favorable, as there are many low-lying areas, especially after the commune completed the land conversion program, many households applied to receive low-lying land to cultivate rice combined with fish farming. In reality, these households' third-crop fish farming yields high economic efficiency, equivalent to one winter-spring rice crop.

Thanh Linh commune has very favorable conditions for raising fish in the third crop season. The commune is surrounded by two rivers: the Lam River and the Trai River, and has a convenient irrigation system that provides abundant water for crops year-round. Every year, the District People's Committee assigns Thanh Linh commune to implement 30 hectares of fish farming in the third crop season. Currently, the commune has completed 25 hectares.

Besides raising fish in the third crop season, farmers in Thanh Linh also cultivate 85 hectares of winter corn. While in the past, farmers planted corn and potatoes in the winter to ensure food security, now winter crops here are primarily used for livestock farming. Therefore, in recent years, the locality has chosen high-yield corn varieties such as DK9901 and DK6919…

According to the report from the District Department of Agriculture, Thanh Chuong district has planted 2,800 hectares of corn, 450 hectares of vegetables, and 650 hectares of fish in the third cropping season this winter.
