Thanh Chuong announces resolution to establish Dai Dong commune.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 12th, Thanh Chuong district held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the establishment of Dai Dong commune.

Accordingly, in implementation of Resolution No. 831/NQ-UBTV QH14 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, three communes in Thanh Chuong district were merged to form a new commune named Dai Dong. These communes are Thanh Hung, Thanh Van, and Thanh Tuong.
Before the merger, Thanh Tuong commune had an area of 3.04 square kilometers.2With a population of 3,308 people, Thanh Hung commune has an area of 6.36 km².2With a population of 4,489 people, Thanh Van commune has an area of 6.46 km².2, population 5,617 people.
After the merger, Dai Dong commune has a total area of 15.83 km².2With a population of 13,300 people, the commune borders the communes of Thanh Dong, Thanh Linh, Thanh Phong, Thanh Tien (Thanh Chuong district) and Do Luong district. The commune's Party Committee has 25 branches and 826 members – making it the Party Committee with the most members in Thanh Chuong district.
According to the survey, the merger of the three communes received strong support from the local people. 97.8% of residents in Thanh Tuong commune, 96.7% in Thanh Van commune, and 99.4% in Thanh Hung commune agreed with the merger plan. Notably, the name of the new administrative unit is also the old name of the former Dai Dong district.
The former headquarters of Thanh Van commune was chosen as the headquarters and administrative center of Dai Dong commune. The local political system was also streamlined immediately after the merger.
The merger and formation of Dai Dong commune in Thanh Chuong district reduced the number of administrative units at the commune level from 40 to 38 (37 communes and 1 town).
