Besides investing in plows and various types of tillage machines, Thanh Lien and Thanh Hung are among the localities that have boldly purchased rice transplanters. In Thanh Lien, this is the second season that rice transplanters have been used in the fields.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dac, Chairman of Thanh Lien Cooperative, said: "The price of a rice transplanter at the moment is from 85 to 90 million VND. It requires a minimum of 3 people to operate: one to operate, one to transport, and one to transfer seedlings from the trays into the machine and transplant rice in areas the machine cannot reach. On average, the machine can transplant 25 sao (approximately 1000 square meters) per day. If the fields are contiguous and require less movement, it can reach 40 sao. With a rental price of 300,000 VND per sao, the average daily revenue is 8-10 million VND."

The rice transplanter is very efficient, so farmers in Thanh Chuong continue to invest in this type of machine to serve agricultural production.

Seedlings are sown densely on trays, sown indoors until they germinate evenly before being transferred to the field. This avoids the cold and saves up to 1/13 of the area (normal sowing requires 15 m2 of land to plant one sao, while sowing in trays only requires 1.2 m2). It also makes them easier to store and protect against pests and diseases. Sowing seedlings using this technology requires less labor.

According to Mr. Dinh Viet Nam, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Lien Commune People's Committee: "In just one day, only 6 people are needed to carry out the seedling preparation for 100 hectares of rice. The locality has allocated a plot of highland land to the cooperative to use as a seedling nursery, which has initially proven very effective. The previously used seedling fields in the hamlets have been converted to growing vegetables and beans. Thus, sowing seedlings in trays directly saves water, labor, and land, freeing up these resources and manpower for the production of other crops."
