(Baonghean.vn) - Russia's military presence in the armed conflict in Ukraine has revealed weaknesses in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Stephen Brian, a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy, wrote in an article published in Asia Times.

"Although the reasons for conflicts vary, they inevitably become testing grounds for the development of technology, tactics, and strategies. The conflict in Ukraine is not much different in this respect; moreover, in some ways, it is a model of the changes in modern warfare… Unfortunately for NATO, it also brings bad news," the article wrote.

According to analysts, the Ukraine conflict reveals NATO's weakness: despite equipping Ukrainian soldiers with Western weapons, the Ukrainian army has failed to seize territories controlled by Russia, due to the ineffectiveness of the alliance's weapons, armored vehicles, and air defense systems.

Observers emphasize that Russia has demonstrated its superiority not only tactically but also technologically: its weapons and equipment are superior to Western counterparts, and drones, especially the Lancet, which has no Western equivalent, continue to pose a serious threat to the Ukrainian military.

Experts conclude: "One of the outcomes of the conflict in Ukraine is evidence that NATO is not ready to defend even its own territory."

Russia has requested a UN Security Council meeting on the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
