As a mountainous, purely agricultural commune in Zone II facing many difficulties, Thanh Huong is a challenging area in Thanh Chuong district. During the 2015-2020 term, closely adhering to the targets and tasks set forth in the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress and the resolutions and projects of the district, and concretizing them to suit the local situation, along with the close, specific, and decisive leadership and guidance of the Party Committee and government, the involvement of the Fatherland Front and other organizations, and the consensus of the people, Thanh Huong commune has achieved significant progress in socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building, and the political system.

Regarding economic highlights, Comrade Nguyen Van Tien - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune - said that the locality has focused on leading and directing the conversion of some acacia plantations to tea plantations, increasing the area from nearly 140 hectares at the beginning of the term to over 240 hectares now.

In conjunction with this, the people have been encouraged to promote the application of science and technology, especially investing in irrigation systems, to ensure the tea plants grow well. In the last three years, the area of ​​tea plantations damaged by drought in Thanh Huong has decreased significantly, thereby helping to increase people's income; on average, each hectare of tea, if well cared for, brings farmers 140-160 million VND per year.

The Party Committee and local government of Thanh Huong commune have also directed the conversion of some acacia plantations to fruit trees with high economic value such as oranges, pomelos, jackfruit, and seedless persimmons. Rice cultivation has focused on changing to high-yield, high-quality varieties, with hybrid rice varieties accounting for 94% of the spring crop. The locality has also promoted the introduction of mechanization into production, from land preparation to rice harvesting, with a total of 44 machines in the area.

Thanh Huong commune is focusing on converting some areas previously used for acacia cultivation to fruit tree cultivation.

Livestock farming is oriented towards concentrated, large-scale development (currently, there are 18 effective integrated farm and household farm models in the commune); accordingly, the total size of the buffalo, cattle, pig, and poultry herds has increased significantly compared to the beginning of the term.

Forest land has been fully exploited, eliminating barren hills and mountains; some advantageous areas have been converted from growing raw materials to growing industrial crops, initially changing mindsets and perceptions in the management and exploitation of forest land.

Despite the many difficulties in people's lives, thanks to perseverance, closeness to the people, and engagement in implementation; effectively promoting democratic principles, with all policies being publicly and transparently presented to the people; Thanh Huong has mobilized the people's participation in building new rural areas through donating land, assets, contributing labor and money to join with other resources in building new rural areas.

Accordingly, rural transportation systems, internal field roads, health stations, schools, and street lighting have been gradually invested in, built, upgraded, and renovated, creating a significantly improved rural landscape. To date, Thanh Huong has completed 13 out of 19 criteria and one hamlet has achieved the New Rural Area standard. Over the four years from 2016 to 2019, the total capital mobilized from the entire society reached over 64 billion VND, of which the people contributed nearly 6 billion VND.

The socio-cultural sector continues to receive attention and guidance from the Party Committee and the government. During the term, Thanh Huong successfully built another junior high school that meets national standards, and currently all three schools meet the standards. The local authorities have promoted and encouraged the improvement of people's cultural and spiritual lives and physical health. National defense and security are taken care of through promoting the self-governance role of neighborhood groups and individual villages.

Focus on solutions for the new development phase.

Comrade Phan Bá Hoàng, Secretary of the Thanh Hương Commune Party Committee, stated that the achievements of the locality during the past term affirm the effectiveness of the commune's Party Committee's comprehensive efforts in Party building. This is especially true in overcoming conservative thinking, reluctance to face difficulties, and slowness to innovate among cadres, Party members, and the people; strengthening inspection and supervision to encourage and resolve difficulties and obstacles, including rectifying shortcomings and weaknesses, contributing to improving the capacity and effectiveness of leadership and guidance by the Party committee and the implementation by the government and political system.

Mass mobilization work has contributed to creating consensus and strengthening the great national unity to carry out the local political tasks. The activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other mass organizations are substantive and practical, based on closely adhering to the local political tasks, such as supporting people in building houses; developing economic models; environmental sanitation, etc.

The Party Secretary of Thanh Huong commune, Phan Ba ​​Hoang, also shared that, comparing the overall development of localities, especially based on the results of the previous term, in the period 2020-2025, the commune's Party Committee is determined to lead and direct the locality to achieve the New Rural Area goal by 2022 or 2023.

And achieving the goal of completing the New Rural Development Program requires synchronized and effective leadership, guidance, and implementation across all aspects of the economy, culture and society, national defense and security, Party building, and the political system from Party committees, government, and the entire political system.

Priority is given to sustainably implementing criteria that have a strong impact on improving people's lives, especially increasing income through a strong transformation of crop structure, increasing value per unit area, developing livestock farming in the direction of concentrated farms and family farms; building "green, clean, beautiful, and peaceful villages"...
