(Baonghean.vn) - Thousands of people turned to the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery (Anh Son district) to light candles in gratitude, commemorating the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2017).
On the evening of July 26, along with the sacred atmosphere throughout the country, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a candlelighting ceremony at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery. Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. The Vietnam-Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of more than 11,000 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts, the outstanding sons of 47 provinces and cities across the country who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield in Laos. Photo: Tien Hung

The Vietnamese volunteer soldiers considered Laos as their second homeland, not afraid of hardships and sacrifices, fighting against enemy sweeps and encroachments; building and consolidating resistance organizations and governments, building and protecting liberated areas, strengthening armed forces, and developing guerrilla warfare throughout the regions of Upper, Central and Lower Laos. Thousands of Vietnamese youths fought bravely and tenaciously, dedicating their youth to their friendly country, fulfilling their international obligations, and for the revolutionary cause of the two countries.
