Young man stabs pregnant girlfriend to death after being challenged

Being complained by his pregnant girlfriend for coming home late at night drinking and challenged to "stab yourself if you're feeling so good", Tinh took a knife and stabbed to death the person he was living with as his wife.

On the afternoon of March 21, Khanh Hoa People's Court sentenced Tran Van Tinh (26 years old) to 20 years in prison for murder and ordered him to pay 110 million VND in compensation to the victim's family. Tinh's brother - Tran Van Tam (28 years old) was sentenced to 6 months in prison for concealing a criminal.

According to the indictment, Tinh and the 22-year-old girl lived together as husband and wife in a rented room in Nha Trang. In the early morning of June 11, 2016, after a drinking party, his girlfriend complained that he came home late and even gave her phone to a friend to tease her when her "wife" called.

During the argument, Tinh was challenged by his girlfriend: "If you want to stab me, go ahead and stab me." Seeing the girl collapse, Tinh asked his brother to help take her to the emergency room, but the victim died. The autopsy results determined that the girl was 5 months pregnant.

Tinh was then given 50,000 VND by his brother to return home to Ninh Hoa town, about 50 km from Nha Trang, to hide but could not escape.

In court, Tinh expressed remorse and apologized to the victim's family. "A moment of rashness caused the death of my lover, but I loved her very much," he said and hoped the jury would give him a light sentence so he could return home soon to take care of his elderly parents and disabled brother who were implicated because of him./.
