A 24-year-old man in Quang Nam broke into a house at night, broke open a safe and stole dozens of gold rings and jewelry worth more than 1 billion VND.
On April 2, Quang Nam Provincial Police announced that they had just detained Huynh Thanh Hung (born 2001, residing in Dai Dong commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam) to investigate the act of property theft.
Previously, at around 10:30 pm on March 22, taking advantage of the time when the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi M. (born in 1966, residing in Dien Hong commune, Dien Ban town, Quang Nam) was away, Hung broke into the house, broke into the safe, and took away 80 million VND, along with a large amount of gold and jewelry with a total value of more than 1 billion VND.
Upon receiving the victim's report, the Criminal Police Department of Quang Nam Police coordinated with the Provincial Procuracy, the Criminal Techniques Department, and Dien Hong Commune Police to conduct a crime scene investigation.
Applying professional measures, detectives identified Hung as the suspect who caused the above theft and was hiding in Da Nang City.
During an urgent search of the suspect's residence in An Hai Nam ward (Son Tra district, Da Nang), the police seized 22 gold rings of various types, 3 gold necklaces, 2 pieces of PNJ 9999 gold and some other assets that Hung had not yet disposed of.
The incident is under further investigation.
