Young man breaks into house, breaks open safe and steals large amount of gold.
A 24-year-old man in Quang Nam province broke into a house at night, pried open a safe, and stole dozens of gold rings and other jewelry worth over 1 billion VND.
On April 2nd, the Quang Nam Provincial Police announced that they had temporarily detained Huynh Thanh Hung (born in 2001, residing in Dai Dong commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province) for investigation into the crime of theft.
Earlier, at around 10:30 PM on March 22nd, taking advantage of the fact that Ms. Nguyen Thi M. (born in 1966, residing in Dien Hong commune, Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province) was away from home, Hung broke into the house, pried open the safe, and stole 80 million VND, along with a large quantity of gold and jewelry worth over 1 billion VND in total.
Upon receiving a report from the victim, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Quang Nam Provincial Police, in coordination with the Provincial Procuratorate, the Forensic Technical Department, and the Dien Hong Commune Police, conducted a scene investigation.
Using investigative techniques, the detectives identified Hung as the suspect in the theft and determined that he was hiding in Da Nang City.
During an urgent search of the suspect's residence in An Hai Nam ward (Son Tra district, Da Nang), police seized 22 gold rings of various types, 3 gold necklaces, 2 PNJ 9999 gold bars, and other assets that Hung had not yet managed to dispose of.
The incident is still under investigation.
