According to the investigation, at noon on January 13, 2016, Truc drove a BMW and stopped at a red light at the intersection of Le Loi and Pasteur (District 1). From behind, Minh rode a motorbike and honked, knocked on the window, asking the car to move aside to turn right. Truc got out of the car, loudly started a fight, and attacked Minh.
After being stopped by many people, Minh left. After a while on Pasteur Street, he saw a BMW going in the same direction, so he jumped up, kicked the side of the car, and sped away. Truc immediately chased after him.
Arriving in front of the Rex Hotel (Ben Nghe Ward, District 1), Truc drove his car into Mr. Minh's car, causing him to fall over. The BMW then jumped the curb and crashed into the hotel wall.
Truc got out of the car and kicked Minh repeatedly in the stomach until the victim passed out. Nearby people came to intervene, held Truc and took Minh to the emergency room. However, the victim died from a collapsed lung, broken bones and multiple injuries.
