Vietnamese youth must dare to confront and master new fields in science and technology, and innovation.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented flowers to congratulate the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; and the outstanding and promising young Vietnamese figures.

The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union announced that the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Award is an annual award given to individuals who have achieved outstanding and comprehensive accomplishments and made significant contributions in the fields of study, scientific research, labor, production, business, state administration, national defense, ensuring security and social order, sports, culture and arts, and social activities. In 2025, the Award Standing Committee received 145 nominations from 37 units, including provincial and city youth unions, ministries, departments, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad. This year's nominations demonstrate diversity and represent the typical characteristics of the younger generation. The diverse ethnic composition includes 137 individuals of the Kinh ethnic group and 8 individuals of ethnic minorities (Khmer, Mong, Muong, Nung, S'tieng, Jrai).

The candidates were of high quality: 13 PhDs and 7 Master's degree holders; the age range of the delegates was wide, from 10 to 38 years old. Through fair selection rounds, the Council selected 19 of the most outstanding nominees to participate in the public online voting round on various media platforms. These outstanding and promising young Vietnamese figures honored this year are the best representatives of the intellect, courage, and aspiration to contribute of Vietnamese youth in the current period. The exceptional achievements and sustained contributions of these outstanding young Vietnamese figures not only bring glory to the country on the international stage but also serve as a powerful source of inspiration, encouraging millions of young people nationwide to continuously strive, train, and dedicate themselves.

The Ly Tu Trong Award is a prestigious award of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union given to outstanding Youth Union officials who have achieved excellent results in their studies, work, and contributions to the Youth Union and youth movements. Building on the achievements of the past 21 years (2005-2026), the Award has encouraged, supported, and commended outstanding Youth Union officials, contributing to the strengthening, building, and development of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; and simultaneously, creating motivation for Youth Union officials to continuously study, train, strive, and grow, contributing their intellect and youthful energy to the cause of national construction and defense.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh once instructed: “A year begins in spring. A life begins in youth. Youth is the spring of society” and “We must not fear hardship, not fear difficulties; wherever youth are needed, youth will be there; whatever is difficult, youth will overcome it.” He concluded: “Youth are the masters of the future of the country. The prosperity or decline, strength or weakness of the country depends on the youth.” This teaching is not only a message of strategic significance but also reflects his profound belief in the younger generation in the cause of building and developing the country.

The Party and State attach great importance to the role of Vietnamese youth – the vanguard, creative force, leading the way in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; and have issued many policies and guidelines to create favorable conditions for youth to be nurtured, encouraged, and to pioneer in contributing to the cause of national construction and development. In particular, the Party's overarching viewpoint and requirement for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union is to build a team of Youth Union cadres full of enthusiasm, a sense of responsibility, and excellent in youth work; who are leaders, close companions, and shining examples to inspire generations of Vietnamese youth.

The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1331/QD-TTg on July 24, 2021, on the Strategy for the Development of Vietnamese Youth in the period 2021-2030; clearly defining the objective: “To build a generation of Vietnamese youth who are comprehensively developed, deeply patriotic, self-reliant, and proud of their nation; who possess revolutionary ideals, ambitions, and aspirations to contribute to national development.” In this strategy, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union plays a crucial role in realizing this objective.

The Prime Minister emphasized: "Resources originate from thinking and vision, motivation from innovation and creativity, and strength from the people and businesses." On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee for its continuous efforts in concretizing and effectively implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on youth development; on discovering and nurturing young talents; and on building a team of Youth Union officials to meet the requirements of the tasks.

Among these, the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Award and the Ly Tu Trong Award are prestigious awards from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, representing special recognition with significant meaning and widespread impact on union members, young people, and union officials nationwide.

We are particularly thrilled with the impressive results of Le Kien Thanh, Tran Minh Hoang, and Nguyen Luong Thai Duy, who won prestigious International Olympic Gold Medals; Drs. Dang Thi Le Hang, Pham Anh Tuan, and Nguyen Pham Nhat Thien Minh, with their numerous influential scientific research projects and products; Nguyen Chi Dong, with his many digital transformation solutions based on big data, generating hundreds of billions of dong in value; entrepreneurs Pham Chi Nhu, who led a Vietnamese fashion brand to achieve a breakthrough 593% growth in the US market; and Le Thi Hong, who manages a business with an average annual revenue of 200 billion dong.

We are extremely proud of the outstanding achievements of our soldiers, Captain Doan Van Chi, Captain Tran Quoc Khanh, Captain Nguyen Huu Dung, and Major Nguyen Van Thanh in protecting the Fatherland, maintaining political security and social order; and athletes Nguyen Dinh Bac and Nguyen Thi Huong who brought glory to the Fatherland with gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games and Asian Championships…

In the field of culture and arts, outstanding young talents such as Nguyen Thi Hoa (Hoa Minzy), Phuong My Chi, and Nguyen Duc Phuc have created remarkable works that have made a significant impact, contributing importantly to spreading Vietnamese cultural identity internationally. We especially commend the courageous example of Mua A Thi, whose decisiveness and sense of responsibility saved 21 households with 90 people during the floods in Dien Bien in August 2025.

The Prime Minister also warmly congratulated the 100 outstanding Youth Union officials nationwide who were honored and received the Ly Tu Trong Award in 2026. These are exemplary Youth Union officials who embody the spirit of dedication, solidarity, creativity, and striving of young people, contributing to the strength of the Youth Union organization and the growth of youth. Many of them are outstanding grassroots Youth Union secretaries who have creatively innovated the working methods of the Youth Union, expanded the front of solidarity and gathering of young people, and built a strong Youth Union organization. Many of them are exemplary civil servants who have made creative and effective initiatives, contributing to administrative reform.

Many comrades have made outstanding efforts to achieve numerous victories, actively contributing to the cause of fighting and defending the Fatherland. Many others have achieved outstanding results in preserving traditional culture, protecting the environment, maintaining traffic safety and order, promoting urban civility, supporting youth entrepreneurship and career development, building effective economic models, and creating jobs for local youth, among many other outstanding achievements of Youth Union officials nationwide.

Today's generations of Vietnamese youth are proud to continue the glorious traditions of their forefathers throughout the 95-year history of Vietnamese youth's growth and development. In any circumstance, Vietnamese youth have always demonstrated their role as the "pillars of the nation," the "pioneering force," and the "spearhead," charging forward on all fronts with their creativity, passion, and dedication, with a spirit of daring to think, daring to act, daring to take risks, and daring to overcome their own limitations to make significant contributions to the cause of building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland!

The Prime Minister emphasized that 2026 is a year of special significance, marking the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party and the 2026-2030 Socio-Economic Development Plan, the beginning of a new era of development, and aiming to successfully achieve the two centenary strategic goals. The global situation continues to be complex and unpredictable, especially with strategic competition among major powers and intense military conflicts in several hotspots.

In this context, Vietnamese youth need to continue to maintain firm political resolve, remain absolutely loyal to the Party's ideals; innovate their thinking and actions, thoroughly understand the viewpoint that "Resources originate from thinking, motivation from innovation, and strength from the people" and the motto "Look far ahead, think deeply and do big things, excel in expertise, be proficient in professional skills, maintain a professional and efficient work style, be deeply connected to reality, and integrate deeply."

General Secretary To Lam affirmed: “The Party and the State always place deep trust in the youth force, always placing youth at the center of many major issues of the country; considering youth as the key factor in shaping and developing the future of the country; considering the strength of the youth as the success of the Party, the victory of the revolutionary cause, and the survival of the nation.”

With that spirit, the Prime Minister hopes that the outstanding young Vietnamese figures, exemplary Youth Union officials, and youth union members nationwide will continuously strive to realize their aspirations, dreams, ambitions, and ideals; and effectively implement the teachings of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "Nothing is difficult - only the lack of perseverance is to be feared - Digging mountains and filling seas - with determination, anything can be achieved."

In the coming period, to further promote the spirit of dedication, pioneering, and volunteerism of young people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the Prime Minister suggested that the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union launch practical, effective, and deeply humane emulation movements and develop specific programs, plans, and solutions to create conditions for young people to contribute and dedicate themselves in all fields; focusing on the "6 pioneering" principles:

First,Pioneering in innovative thinking and creative action, Vietnamese youth need to break free from conventional thinking, cultivate critical thinking and systems thinking, and be ready to embrace new things; they must think far ahead, have a broad vision; think deeply and act on a grand scale; value time, intellect, and decisiveness at the right time.

Secondly,Pioneering in the development of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and green transformation, Vietnamese youth must dare to confront, venture into, and master new fields of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and green transformation, creating groundbreaking projects and products, boosting labor productivity, establishing businesses with exceptional growth potential—Vietnam's "unicorn startups"—and contributing to the country's breakthrough and sustainable development.

Third,Vietnamese youth must be pioneers in nationalizing human civilization in our country and internationalizing advanced culture, rich in Vietnamese national identity, to the world. They must constantly innovate, creating new, unique products deeply rooted in national cultural identity; at the same time, they must select and absorb the finest aspects of human culture, contributing to the strong development of the cultural and entertainment industries, creating new cultural values ​​of regional and global significance.

Fourth,Pioneering in serving the Fatherland and the people, ensuring social welfare, and "leaving no one behind." Young people must not be afraid of difficulties or hardships, and must have the aspiration to contribute to the development of the country. They must be ready to study, work, fight, maintain national security, order, and sovereignty, ready to go anywhere and do anything the Fatherland needs, ready to sacrifice themselves and act for a civilized, happy, and developed community.

Fifthly,To be a pioneer and proactive in international exchange, diplomacy, and integration. Continuously cultivate and improve foreign language proficiency and communication skills with foreign friends and partners; actively participate in regional and international forums and collaborations; contribute to affirming the level, capabilities, character, position, and value of Vietnamese people in general, and Vietnamese youth in particular, on the international stage.

Sixth,Pioneering in solidarity, love, and mutual support in learning, contributing, and working to lay the foundation for the strength of national unity.

The Prime Minister emphasized that 95 years ago (in 1931), the 17-year-old Communist youth Ly Tu Trong – the number one honorary member of the Youth Union – said: “The path of youth can only be the revolutionary path, not any other.” Previous generations sacrificed their lives and blood to achieve independence and freedom for the nation; today's Vietnamese youth must strive and contribute even more, worthy of the trust and expectations of the Party, the State, and the people; worthy of the mission of being the “future masters of the country,” “those who will seize the glorious future of the nation,” “the next generation must be better than the previous one,” creating a continuous flow of progress, happiness, and prosperity for the people.

We hope and believe that today's young generation of Vietnam will uphold the spirit of patriotism, solidarity, and unity; always carrying within themselves the will, aspirations, and enthusiasm of youth – "Pure heart - Bright mind - Great ambition"; always "daring to think, daring to act, daring to pioneer, daring to take responsibility, daring to act for the benefit of the nation, the people"; "daring to accept risks in science"; daring to step out of their comfort zone in their work; daring to overcome themselves in life; always being the vanguard force leading the country in striving to realize the aspiration of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, happy Vietnam, steadily advancing towards socialism.
