Vinh City inaugurates pedestrian street.

The opening ceremony is part of a series of events celebrating the 235th anniversary of Phuong Hoang Trung Do, the 60th anniversary of the founding of Vinh City, and the 15th anniversary of Vinh City becoming a Class I urban area.

Vinh pedestrian streetSpanning 1.5km, the area comprises four adjacent streets: Ho Tung Mau, Nguyen Van Cu, Nguyen Trung Ngan, and Nguyen Tai. The selection of these four streets connects the central area, creating a vibrant circular network. These streets are also close to cultural landmarks such as Ho Chi Minh Square, the Central Park, Nguyen Tat Thanh Park, and the Provincial Labor Culture House, along with hundreds of businesses offering food, fashion, art, and entertainment, helping to promote regional cuisine and increase consumer spending.

After two years of renovation and upgrading, the Vinh pedestrian street began its trial operation on April 8, 2022. Since then, it has become a meeting place for artisans, youth groups, and clubs, and an indispensable destination for people seeking spiritual fulfillment every weekend.

Each evening, Vinh's pedestrian street attracts between 10,000 and 20,000 people. It's not just a weekend entertainment spot for city residents, but also an attractive destination for tourists. Major events of Nghe An province and Vinh city have also been held on the pedestrian street, achieving high media impact. The initial success of the pedestrian street is due to meticulous preparation of infrastructure, from urban beautification to security, order, and environmental sanitation.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Quang Lam – Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee emphasized: Although it has garnered the attention and support of residents and tourists, the pedestrian street certainly faced certain difficulties and is not yet perfect during the past year of trial operation. The city is always open to feedback and suggestions to further improve the pedestrian street, making it a worthy leader in the city's night-time economy.

In the coming period, Vinh City will continue to research and add items related to technical infrastructure, decorative lighting, and symbols to create focal points in the pedestrian street space, gradually changing the management and operation model. This will focus on inviting businesses to participate in managing, operating, and exploiting the pedestrian street.

The city requires departments, agencies, units, the People's Committee of Truong Thi Ward, and the Pedestrian Street Management Board to regularly pay attention to advising and resolving shortcomings in the operation process, listening to and accepting feedback from the people and tourists, and continuing to improve the quality and diversify business, service, cultural, and artistic activities, while strictly complying with regulations.
