Vinh City opens walking street

The opening ceremony is part of a series of events celebrating the 235th anniversary of Phuong Hoang Trung Do, the 60th anniversary of Vinh city's establishment, and the 15th anniversary of Vinh city becoming a class I urban area.

Vinh walking street1.5km long with 4 adjacent routes including Ho Tung Mau, Nguyen Van Cu, Nguyen Trung Ngan and Nguyen Tai. The selection of the above 4 routes has linked the central area, creating a vibrant circle. These routes are also close to cultural works such as Ho Chi Minh Square, Central Park, Nguyen Tat Thanh Park, Provincial Labor Culture House... along with hundreds of food, fashion, art and entertainment businesses, helping to promote regional cuisine, increase consumption of goods...

After 2 years of renovating and upgrading the roads, on April 8, 2022, Vinh walking street was put into trial operation. Since then, this place has become a place for exchange and meeting of artisans, groups of young people, clubs and has become a destination to meet the indispensable spiritual needs of the people every weekend.

Every night of operation, Vinh walking street has attracted 10,000 - 20,000 participants. This is not only a place for entertainment on weekend nights for city residents but also an attractive destination for tourists. Major events of Nghe An province and Vinh city have also been held on the walking street and achieved high communication efficiency. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee emphasized: Although it has attracted the attention and response of people and tourists, in the past 1 year of trial operation, the walking street will certainly have certain difficulties and is not yet complete. The city is always open to feedback and contributions so that the walking street can be increasingly perfected, worthy of being the spearhead of the night economy in the area.

In the coming time, Vinh City will continue to research and supplement items on technical infrastructure, decorative electricity, symbols to create highlights in the walking street space, gradually changing the management model of activities. In particular, focusing on inviting businesses to participate in the management, operation and exploitation of the Walking Street.
