Vinh City strives to complete upgrading Nguyen Van Cu Street before September 20

Nguyen Van Cu Street is located in the center of Vinh City; at the time of preparing to open the walking street, Nguyen Van Cu Street from Ho Tung Mau Street to Le Hong Phong Street has been renovated and upgraded.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vinh City's founding and the 235th anniversary of Phuong Hoang Trung Do, the remaining section of Nguyen Van Cu Street (from Le Hong Phong Street to Nguyen Sy Sach Street), about 1.2 km long, was also renovated by Vinh City to create uniformity across the entire route.

After 1 year of implementation, by the end of August 2023, the upgrade items of Nguyen Van Cu Street are entering the final stage. In particular, the construction unit is focusing on curbing, paving sidewalks, connecting underground roads, installing capacitors, planting trees...

Construction worker Nguyen Van Hung said: "This is a project to celebrate a major event in the city, so we encourage each other to overcome difficulties so that the street renovation and upgrading can be completed on schedule. Fortunately, the weather has been favorable recently, so the construction has not been interrupted too much..."

The city has also been rushing to plant trees in recent days. According to the plan, the city will plant 235 rosewood trees on this route, completely replacing the old trees which were planted unevenly and of many different types.

Rosewood is a tree species that has been successfully planted on Nguyen Van Cu Street (from Le Hong Phong Street to Ho Tung Mau Street) before, and is continuing to be planted to create uniformity for the entire street.

Because it is the largest business street in the city, during the past year of construction, the number of shoppers on this street has been somewhat affected. Therefore, some shop owners have taken advantage of the time when the road is under construction and there are fewer customers to renovate their shops, hoping that after the road is completed, business will improve.

Ms. Ngoc Thuy - owner of a fashion shop on Nguyen Van Cu Street shared: "We always accompany the projects to beautify the city's streets. Although in the past, business has been unfavorable due to machinery and materials piled up in front of the store, however, everyone is willing to endure a little difficulty so that the business premises will be more spacious in the future...".

Through discussion, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phong - Director of Vinh City Investment and Construction Project Management Board said: Currently, the city is focusing all its efforts to speed up the construction progress of Nguyen Van Cu Street with 100% of machinery and human resources working during the holidays, striving to complete all items before September 20, bringing the project to the finish line before the anniversary day.
