It is no coincidence that in the last two Sports Festivals, Vinh city has been firmly in the top position of the province. Notably, while at the 6th Sports Festival in 2010, Vinh city was ranked 3rd (99 Gold Medals for teams and individuals, 33 Silver Medals for teams and individuals, 29 Bronze Medals for teams and individuals), at the 7th Festival in 2014, with efforts to overcome difficulties, Vinh city sports rose to rank 1st with 22 Gold Medals, 17 Silver Medals and 16 Bronze Medals.

To achieve the above achievement, according to Mr. Ton That Hai - Deputy Director of Vinh City Sports and Culture Center, is a big step forward, in which the team of staff, coaches and athletes must really try, overcome pressure and difficulties to compete and bring achievements for the whole team.

Along with organizing regular sports festivals, the city also organizes specialized sports tournaments well and actively participates in sports tournaments in the province's system. A typical example is the participation in the Youth - Children's Football Tournament of Nghe An Newspaper Cup. Every year, Vinh city participates in the final round of the Youth - Children's Football Tournament of Nghe An Newspaper Cup, of which it has won the Youth Championship 8 times, the Children's Championship 1 time, and won the Second and Third prizes many times. In addition, every year the city also organizes the City-wide Youth - Children's Football Tournament, the Television Cup Cycling Tournament, football tournaments, men's volleyball tournaments... Thanks to this attention, for the first time, Vinh city won the 2nd Dong Luc Cup Men's Volleyball Championship at the Provincial Sen Village Festival in 2016, won the First prize in provincial badminton and the First prize in provincial Youth football...

Well organized city level Sports Festival

With its position as the political, economic, cultural and social center of the province and the unit that has repeatedly held the top position at the Provincial Sports Festival, the preparation process for the upcoming 8th Sports Festival in 2018 is an advantage but also a pressure for Vinh City Sports. Therefore, the city's sports determined to organize seriously at the grassroots level to promote the movement and discover sports talents for the province.

Coming to Hung Loc commune, one of the communes with a strong sports movement in the city when it was recognized as a unit that organized the Commune-level Sports Festival well and won high prizes in a number of competitions. Mr. Le Duy Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: Up to this point, the commune has prepared for the City-level Sports Festival.

Mr. Chu Van Mai - Director of Vinh City Culture and Sports Center said: Implementing the guidance of the Department of Culture and Sports, Vinh City People's Committee, the City Sports Festival Steering Committee has issued the Charter and guidance documents; at the same time, actively inspecting and urging wards and communes to organize the congress at the grassroots level. It is expected that from April to August, the wards will organize the Sports Festival at ward and commune levels and by October, the Vinh City Sports Festival will be held. Also according to Mr. Chu Van Mai, although it is considered a locality with resources, it is not easy for the city-wide Sports Festival to be successful and worthy of a large urban area of ​​the province.

Hopefully in the near future, with the investment attention of the province and the participation of the city's political system, Vinh city sports will have more resources to organize sports tournaments well, thereby not only encouraging the physical training movement to contribute to maintaining the top position at the Provincial Sports Festival but also promptly discovering and nurturing sports talents for the province.
