Quang Nam midfielder Dinh Thanh Trung is almost certain to win the 2017 Vietnamese Golden Ball award. The award will be presented at tonight's gala, January 2nd.

Previously, the Saigon Giai Phong newspaper - the organizer of the Vietnam Golden Ball award - announced the shortlist (top 5) for each category in the award selection.

Accordingly, the five finalists are Anh Đức (Bình Dương), Quang Hải (Hà Nội), Phi Sơn (SLNA), Xuân Trường (Gangwon), and Thanh Trung (Quảng Nam).

Thanh Trung has a great chance to win the 2017 Vietnamese Golden Ball award.

Among these names, Dinh Thanh Trung stands out. The midfielder from Ha Tinh had a successful season, winning the V-League 2017 championship with Quang Nam. He scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists in the tournament, becoming one of the best domestic players of the season.

Wearing the national team jersey, Dinh Thanh Trung was also an important player in the tactical setups of coach Nguyen Huu Thang, interim coach Mai Duc Chung, and coach Park Hang Seo, including scoring one goal against Cambodia in the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers, in Vietnam's 5-0 victory.
