In 2023, Vinh City celebrated the anniversary.60 years of the city's establishment and developmentFollowing this milestone, Vinh City is preparing to enter a new era of development with a new space and stature. The red streets of Vinh City now have a bright appearance with many new transportation and infrastructure projects.

Particularly in the last two years, Vinh has invested in nearly 150 projects related to infrastructure upgrades and urban beautification.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc, Head of the Urban Management Department of Vinh City, shared: "Urban infrastructure is receiving significant investment, so the appearance of Vinh City will change and become more beautiful, but the pressure on the city is immense. The city must simultaneously carry out construction while ensuring the normal operation of facilities such as water supply and drainage, lighting, and other technical infrastructure. Alongside upgrading urban infrastructure in the central area to develop services, commerce, and the night-time economy, we are also reviewing and preparing the planning for the buffer and suburban areas to enter a new phase with a larger vision and scale."

With supportive policies from the central and provincial governments, the city has invested resources in implementing approved plans. Recently, the City People's Council continued to issue resolutions approving the investment policies for 5 new projects, adjusting the policies for 33 projects, and canceling 1 project. The city has implemented 389 urban renovation projects and 80 land development projects. Currently, 66 projects have been completed, 135 are unfinished, 45 are in the investment preparation phase, and 63 projects have commenced.

With the theme "Accompanying - Innovating - Breaking Through - Developing," the city is the only district-level unit in Nghe An province that regularly holds meetings between city leaders and businesses, cooperatives, and household businesses in the area to resolve difficulties and obstacles for businesses. Currently, the city is implementing a project to encourage household businesses to establish enterprises, with 174 household businesses initially converting into enterprises.

Thanks to proactive management solutions, in 2023, the city's economic growth rate reached 9.27% ​​for the first time; budget revenue reached nearly 4,000 billion VND; the Vinh City Party Committee was honored to receive the title of "Outstanding Performance" from the Provincial Party Standing Committee; national defense and security were maintained; culture and education were leading with 20 units achieving quality accreditation and an additional 3 schools recognized as meeting national standards, bringing the total number of schools meeting national standards to 79 out of 86, accounting for 91.86%.

Resolutely pursuing the goal of green and sustainable urban development.

Mr. Nguyen Si Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee, stated that 2024 is a pivotal year for ushering in a new era of development. Along with striving for economic growth exceeding 9% and achieving nearly 6,000 billion VND in budget revenue, the city will prioritize resources to continue urban beautification; and implement several solutions to boost socio-economic development, creating momentum for the following year. Currently, alongside drafting the Action Program to implement Resolution 39, the city has continued to invite businesses to invest after the province announced its planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, while also beautifying, renovating, and upgrading several major streets such as Quang Trung - Le Loi - Mai Hac De...

Recently, to concretize Resolution No. 39/NQ-TW dated August 17, 2023, of the Politburo on the development direction of Nghe An province until 2030, with a vision to 2050, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 3836 approving the Vinh urban development program until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the natural area of ​​Vinh City will be expanded to 250 km2, and it is estimated that approximately 20,443 billion VND will be needed to build technical and social infrastructure and implement sustainable urban development programs and projects. Vinh will have three spatial zones for development, each with new opportunities and challenges.

In the near future, along with the implementation of phase 2 of the model...smart cityIn addition to developing the "City of Light" project, Vinh also strives to be a green city and adaptable to climate change. Furthermore, after a period of preparation, the second phase of the Vinh urban infrastructure upgrade project, funded by the World Bank with nearly $200 million, will begin implementation in 2024. This project will contribute to improving and upgrading the urban infrastructure in the southeastern part of Vinh city to a new level.
