(Baonghean.vn) - Deteriorating infrastructure and damaged medical equipment are common problems at health stations in the mountainous district of Ky Son, affecting the provision of medical services to local residents.

Built in 2002, with an area of 90m².2After many years of use, many parts of the Đoọc Mạy Commune Health Station in Kỳ Sơn District are now severely dilapidated, causing anxiety among people who come here for examination and treatment.

The Đoọc Mạy Commune Health Station is not only a place for 1,832 people in the commune to receive medical treatment, but also a place for people from several neighboring villages such as Huồi Tông, Huồi Lê, and Keng Đu commune to seek medical care. Ms. Lầu Y Chùa (from Phà Lếch Phay village, Đoọc Mạy commune), a patient currently receiving treatment at the Đoọc Mạy Commune Health Station, shared: “Everyone in our commune who is sick comes here for treatment because going to Mường Xén is too far. But we are very afraid every time we come to the health station for examination because our houses are so dilapidated and could collapse at any time.”

Dr. La Van Thong, head of the Dooc May Commune Health Station, shared: “The station is severely dilapidated, lacking functional rooms, and the working rooms are run-down, small, and cramped, making it very inconvenient for patients to come for examination. The station is 62 km from the town center, so there are many patients coming for examination, and the need for inpatient treatment is also high. However, we don't dare to treat patients inpatients because the station building is at risk of collapsing at any time, not ensuring the safety of patients. Therefore, in many cases, we have to examine patients in the building, or even for minor illnesses, we refer them to higher-level facilities.”

The entire wall surface peels off easily with just a light touch.

Numerous cracks in the walls provide places for weeds to grow.

7. Nhiều lớp bê tông rơi thành đống dưới chân tường
Many layers of concrete have fallen and piled up at the foot of the wall.

“Regarding the serious deterioration of the health station, we have submitted proposals to the district twice during meetings with voters and dialogues with the people, and the people have also made many requests. We have also sent a document to the District People's Council, and the district has conducted a survey once, but to date, we have not received an answer from the Party Committee and the local government,” said Mr. Gia Song Thai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dooc May commune.

Not only are the facilities of the Đoọc Mạy Commune Health Station in serious disrepair, but there is also a shortage of water, forcing station staff and residents to collect rainwater for use, which is not hygienic.

Mr. Sam Van Hai, Director of the Ky Son District Health Center, said that currently, there are still 7 commune health stations in Ky Son that are dilapidated and need repair or reconstruction. Among them, 3 commune health stations are in serious disrepair and require significant funding for rebuilding, including those in Bao Thang, Dooc May, and Tay Son communes. Not only are the station buildings dilapidated, but the kitchens and other auxiliary facilities also need repair and upgrading.
In reality, commune health stations are the closest healthcare facilities to the people, ensuring that all citizens receive basic healthcare at low cost. Therefore, investing in overcoming limitations in infrastructure and facilities at commune health stations will contribute to improving healthcare capacity at the grassroots level, reducing the burden of patient overload on higher-level facilities. At the same time, it will meet the healthcare standards according to the roadmap for building new rural areas in the communes of Ky Son mountainous district.
