| During the recent flood, the villages of Piêng Mòn and Đai in Quế Sơn commune, Quế Phong district, were cut off for a day due to the rising water level of the Nậm Giải River, which submerged the Piêng Mòn bridge. The rising floodwaters swept away and submerged trucks and excavators into the river. Workers had to wait for the floodwaters to recede, then used iron ropes to pull the vehicles back to shore. |

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Que Phong district, the recent floods in the area resulted in 2 deaths. Regarding houses and crops, 28 houses collapsed, were severely flooded, or suffered landslides; 566.8 hectares of rice and other crops were flooded; nearly 1000 livestock and poultry were lost; and 54.18 hectares of aquaculture were damaged. The floods also swept away and caused serious landslides along many kilometers of National Highways 48 and 16, as well as inter-communal roads. Many power poles and kilometers of power lines were also washed away and damaged. The total estimated damage in Que Phong district is over 10 billion VND. |
