The teacher used bantam chickens to domesticate wild chickens.
(Baonghean.vn) - After numerous failures due to improper farming methods,To date, teacher Vi Dinh Thuan in Dong Tam village, Thach Ngan commune (Con Cuong district) has acquired a flock of dozens of purebred wild chickens.
During a visit to a friend in Ky Son, Mr. Thuan, a teacher at Thach Ngan Primary School 1, saw the locals had trapped a pair of wild chickens. He begged to buy them to raise them. Due to the shy nature of wild chickens, they would fly and jump around wildly whenever they encountered people, making them easily injured, so the two wild chickens died before long.

Undeterred, Mr. Thuan continued to search for and buy breeding chickens, but again faced failure. However, with determination to succeed, and through research in books and newspapers, he gradually developed a scientific feeding regimen and understood the habits of these animals. He then decided to invest in building a coop and bought three wild chickens (one rooster and two hens) to domesticate. He also kept a few bantam chickens in the coop to keep the wild chickens company.

According to Mr. Thuan, taming and caring for wild chickens is not simple at all. If you just let them roam freely, it's very difficult to tame them. Especially when feeding them, if you scatter rice in the coop and there aren't any bantam chickens running to eat, the wild chickens won't dare come near...
After persistent domestication, the two wild chickens began laying eggs, each producing 7-8 eggs. Just like domestic chickens, after about 20 days of incubation, the wild chicken chicks hatched. At this point, the female wild chicken was no longer as shy as before. Mr. Thuan then released the chicks into the garden to provide them with a suitable environment to thrive.
The more he raised them, the more experience he accumulated. After four years of passionately pursuing his hobby of raising wild chickens, Thuan now owns a flock of 50 F1 wild chickens.
Currently, wild chickens raised for 1-2 months are priced at 300,000 VND per pair, while adult chickens cost from 800,000 to 1,000,000 VND per pair. Mr. Thuan also shared, "Besides raising them to satisfy my passion, I plan to invest in expanding the farm to develop this precious wild chicken breed, with the aim of both conservation and providing ornamental chickens for those who need them."
