Teacher uses bantam chicken to tame wild chicken
(Baonghean.vn) - After many failures due to the way of raising,Up to now, teacher Vi Dinh Thuan in Dong Tam village, Thach Ngan commune (Con Cuong) has owned a flock of dozens of purebred jungle fowls.
During a visit to a friend in Ky Son, Mr. Thuan, a teacher at Thach Ngan Primary School 1, saw that the locals had trapped a pair of wild chickens. Mr. Thuan begged them to buy them and raise them. Due to the nature of the wild chickens being shy, whenever they saw people, they would fly and jump around wildly, making them vulnerable, so the two wild chickens soon died.

Not discouraged, Mr. Thuan continued to buy chickens to raise, but also failed. However, with the determination to raise them, along with learning from books and newspapers, he gradually built a scientific diet, as well as grasped the habits of this animal, from there he determined to invest in building a barn, then bought 3 wild chickens (1 male, 2 female) to domesticate. In the barn, he also released a few bantam chickens so that the wild chickens would have friends.

According to Mr. Thuan, domesticating and taking care of wild chickens is not simple. If you only let wild chickens out alone, it will be very difficult to domesticate them. Especially when feeding, when spreading rice in the cage, if there are no bantam chickens running to eat, the wild chickens will not dare to come...
After persistent domestication, the two jungle fowls began to lay eggs, each laying 7-8 eggs. Just like domestic chickens, after about 20 days of incubation, the chicks began to hatch. At this time, the female jungle fowls were no longer as shy as before. Mr. Thuan let the chicks roam free in the garden to create an environment for them to develop.
The more he raises, the more experience he accumulates. After 4 years of passionately pursuing his passion for wild chicken breeding, Mr. Thuan now owns a flock of up to 50 F1 wild chickens.
Currently, wild chickens raised for 1-2 months cost 300 thousand VND/pair, adult chickens cost from 800 - 1 million VND/pair. Mr. Thuan also shared, "In addition to raising them to satisfy his passion, in the near future he will invest in expanding his farm to develop a rare breed of wild chicken, with the aim of both preserving and providing ornamental chickens for those in need."
