Teacher and student present at the exam cheating trial
Not only the defendants working in the education sector, even the candidates whose scores were increased were summoned to the trial at the People's Court of Son La province.
On September 16, the People's Court of Son La province opened the first instance trial of 8 defendants on the charge of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" in the case of cheating on the 2018 National High School Exam scores that took place in the province.

The case brought to trial 8 defendants including: Mr. Tran Xuan Yen (former Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Son La province); Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nga (former specialist of the Department of Examination and Quality Management); Mr. Dang Huu Thuy (former Vice Principal of To Hieu High School); Ms. Cam Thi Bun Son (former Deputy Head of the Department of Political and Ideological Affairs); Mr. Lo Van Huynh (former Head of the Department of Examination and Education Quality Management); Nguyen Thanh Nhan (former Deputy Head of the Department of Examination and Education Quality Management); Do Khac Hung and Dinh Hai Son (former officers of the Department of Internal Political Security, Son La Provincial Police).
All eight defendants were tried for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" under Article 356 of the 2015 Penal Code.
Not only the teachers had to appear in court, among the 47 people with related rights and obligations were also the candidates on the list of increased scores and the parents of these candidates. In other words, both the teachers and students involved had to appear in court.
The trial panel consisted of five people, with Judge Quan Huu Chien presiding. The prosecution agency was represented at the court by two prosecutors, Le Thi Thu Ha and Nguyen Van Thanh.
The trial is expected to last 5 days from September 16 to September 20.
