Gymnastics started the season on a winning note with a gold medal in the men's team event.

The Vietnamese sports delegation concluded the day's competition on August 20th with its fourth gold medal, thanks to the victory of the gymnastics team in the men's team event.

In the men's team event, athletes Dang Nam, Dinh Phuong Thanh, Do Vu Hung, Le Thanh Tung, Pham Phuoc Hung, and Tran Dinh Vuong performed successfully, winning the gold medal.319.05 points.

Host nation Malaysia won the Silver Medal with 305.55 points. Thailand received the Bronze Medal with 293.2 points.

The Vietnamese athletes got off to a poor start, having to perform immediately in the pommel horse event. This is considered the most difficult of the six team events.

However, coach Truong Minh Sang's players did not lose heart; they competed even harder in the remaining events. The rings, vault, and parallel bars were the events that helped the Vietnamese team pull ahead of their opponents.

By the end of the fifth event – ​​the horizontal bar – the Vietnamese team had almost secured the gold medal, needing only 40 more points in the final event – ​​floor exercise. With a consistent performance, the Vietnamese team successfully defended the men's team gold medal they won in Singapore 2015.

This gold medal holds great significance, marking the opening for gymnastics at this year's SEA Games in Malaysia. Athletes who achieve high results in each event today will be selected to compete in the finals on subsequent days.
