Prime Minister May has temporarily stepped away from her campaigning in preparation for the parliamentary election and is expected to chair an emergency meeting with the government's Cobra crisis committee on the morning of June 4th, local time.
The meeting will be attended by UK security and intelligence leaders, ministers, and senior officials. London Mayor Sadiq Khan will also participate. The London Metropolitan Police's counter-terrorism unit is leading the investigation into the attacks.
Mrs. May returned to her office that night after hearing about the attack to receive updates on the incident. It is unclear whether the election campaign will be affected. However, for the time being, a campaign event scheduled for June 4th with the Labour leader is likely to be postponed, according to the BBC.
The Telegraph also reported that British politicians are under pressure to postpone the election after the country experienced its second terrorist attack in just two weeks. Following the attack, many people also called for the election to be postponed on social media.
