The Voice Vietnam: Even the coaches' outfits are being scrutinized.

February 13, 2017 15:32

The judges' rivalry, the contestants' performances, and the outfits of the four singers on the judging panel were all commented on and evaluated by the audience.

The first episode of The Voice Vietnam 2017 has just aired with a coaching lineup including Thu Minh, Dong Nhi, Noo Phuoc Thinh, and Toc Tien. Prior to this, the program faced much controversy regarding the coaches' expertise and the decision not to accept contestants singing bolero music.

Coaches compete fiercely but lack expertise.

From episode 1, it's clear that speaking skills are a strong point for all four coaches. In particular, Noo Phuoc Thinh and Dong Nhi – already famous for their various strategies in winning over talent from The Voice Kids – continued to surprise the audience multiple times.

However, perhaps due to being too focused on winning over contestants, the four coaches didn't have much time to give professional feedback on aspects like vocals or song delivery techniques. Yet, this is considered the most important factor in music talent competitions.

The coaches repeatedly jumped up from their seats and used every trick in the book to entice the contestants.

Therefore, when episode 1 ended, many criticized the judges of this year's The Voice for being too noisy. On her personal page, viewer Do Linh shared: "The coaches are competing like a chaotic marketplace with the motto that speaking loudly and talking a lot is advantageous."

Expressing disappointment with the coaches' lack of expertise, viewer Dat Le shared his opinion on the show's YouTube channel: "The three young coaches failed to convince the audience of their professional skills and techniques, so they seem hesitant to speak up much."

Audience member Bui Thanh believes that the lack of professional expertise is a problem in many current game shows. This viewer criticized the shows, saying, "The coaches act like comedians in the hot seat, making jokes and bringing up real-life stories for entertainment."

The Korean girl and the handsome guy are attracting attention.

Episode 1 of the show featured several contestants who caught attention with their singing voices, looks, and stage presence. Among them, contestant Ali Hoang Duong, with his handsome appearance, and 16-year-old Hansara, with her strong Kpop style, caused all four coaches to fiercely compete for them.

Currently, Hansara's performance is receiving the most attention, with nearly 30,000 views and numerous shares. "I liked this performance for nostalgic reasons. The judges look like 2NE1, choosing a Big Bang song – at a sensitive time. I don't mean to offend the judges, but it's still the same old concept, using one song to salvage a night, then the performances in subsequent weeks become less exciting," one comment hinted, suggesting the organizers crammed all the strong contestants into the first episode.

As for Ali Hoang Duong, possessing a vocal tone and emotion that surprised Thu Minh, coupled with his handsome appearance, the 20-year-old singer was quickly predicted to be the winner of The Voice Vietnam 2017.

“Right in episode 1, the winner appeared and joined Thu Minh's team,” “The first day of The Voice's Blind Auditions was full of handsome guys. I like the guy in the Magic Mirror,” “Is Thu Minh training another winner again?”… these were some of the comments on the night the show aired.

Even the coach's attire became a topic of discussion.

The coaches' outfits were also a topic of much discussion. Viewers were puzzled by the judges' strange and flamboyant fashion sense, especially that of Toc Tien and Thu Minh.

Journalist Hoang Nguyen Vu shared on his personal page: "This is the 'creativity' in the spirit of Ho Hoai Anh. The coaches are incredibly 'creative' in terms of imagery. Don't tell me this year's sponsor is a paint company with all sorts of colors or some kind of bird breeding facility. Looking at the photo, I thought some professional body painters were playing a prank on these guys."

Also related to the issue of clothing, Noo Phuoc Thinh's outfit immediately sparked controversy over plagiarism. A young designer named Phan Quoc An shared on his personal page that the shirt Noo wore was "95% similar in structure to a best-selling design of An's from late 2015, but it wasn't made by An's team."

Designer Phan Quoc An shared his thoughts on Noo Phuoc Thinh's outfit.

"An doesn't know which designer covered it and doesn't want to find out more. It could be someone they know, but An doesn't like this at all. Be a designer with professional integrity. You shouldn't appropriate each other's intellectual property like that. If that designer happens to see it shared, respecting your colleague's intellectual property is respecting yourself," Phan Quoc An added.

Clearly, the first episode of the Vietnamese Song program still shows considerable appeal to the public and industry professionals. The thorough analysis and commentary on all aspects have proven this.

Episode 2 of the show will air next Sunday (February 20th).
