114 more Covid-19 cases on May 20; epidemic spreads to 30 provinces and cities

The Ministry of Health on the evening of May 20 recorded 45 positive cases of nCoV, of which 40 were domestic cases and 5 imported cases were immediately quarantined.

45 new cases were recorded from number 4765-4809. Of which, 40 cases were recorded domestically, in Bac Giang 24, Bac Ninh 10, Ho Chi Minh City 3, Lang Son, Hai Duong and Vinh Phuc each had 1 case.

Thus, today the Ministry of Health announced a total of 114 infections, bringing the total number of community infections from April 27 to now to 1,761, recorded in 30 provinces and cities.

The number of new infections tonight brings the total number of infections in Bac Giang to 668, Bac Ninh 377, Ho Chi Minh City 6, Lang Son 22, Hai Duong 21, Vinh Phuc 89.

On May 19, 3,854 more people were vaccinated against Covid-19, bringing the total number of vaccinations in the first and second phases to 1,015,249 doses for priority groups. Of these, 28,865 people have received two doses.

The total number of people in close contact and entering from epidemic areas under health monitoring is more than 121,000, of which more than 2,200 are quarantined at hospitals; more than 32,000 are quarantined at other facilities; the rest are at home or at their place of residence.

According to the Vietnam Public Health Emergency Operations Center, the world has recorded more than 165 million Covid-19 cases, of which more than 3.4 million people have died. The US ranks first in the number of cases, followed by India and Brazil.
