Two more COVID-19 patients have died.
At noon on August 2nd, the Ministry of Health confirmed that patients 524 and 475 had died, marking the 4th and 5th deaths in the past 3 days.
According to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, Head of the Ministry of Health's Special Standing Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in Da Nang City, "Patient 524," an 86-year-old woman from Quang Nam province, has underlying conditions of heart failure and chronic kidney failure. From July 11 to 16, the patient was treated at the Emergency Department of Da Nang Dermatology Hospital, where she was diagnosed with superinfected herpes zoster and transferred to the Emergency Department of Da Nang Hospital on the same day.
On July 18th, she showed signs of fever and was transferred to Binh An General Hospital for treatment. On July 27th, the patient was transferred to Quang Nam Regional General Hospital for treatment. On July 31st, the patient was transferred to Hue Central Hospital for treatment, in a semi-conscious and weakened state.
On August 1st, the patient was conscious but still weak; at 6 PM, they fell into a coma, their pulse slowed, and at 10 PM, their pulse returned. At midnight on August 2nd, the patient's condition worsened, with cardiac and respiratory arrest, and they died at 5:30 AM.
Diagnosis of death due to septic shock, toxic shock, and irreversible acute respiratory failure in a patient with multiple organ failure infected with Covid-19.
On July 17th, the patient developed a fever. On July 30th, she tested positive for nCoV and was transferred to isolation. At 4:30 AM on August 2nd, the patient's condition deteriorated severely, and just 15 minutes later she fell into a deep coma. She died at 5:45 AM.
The diagnosis of death was acute coronary syndrome, cholecystitis, multiple joint degeneration, hypertension, and Covid-19.
These are the 4th and 5th COVID-19 deaths in Vietnam since the outbreak began earlier this year. Yesterday, "Patient 499" died from malignant leukemia, severe pneumonia, and COVID-19. The two previous deaths were "Patient 428," who suffered a myocardial infarction on a background of underlying medical conditions and COVID-19; and "Patient 437," who died from septic shock on a background of severe underlying medical conditions and COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health reports that it is currently treating 18 severe Covid-19 patients linked to Da Nang, all of whom are elderly and have multiple underlying health conditions.
Over the past 9 days, Da Nang has recorded a total of 104 cases, Quang Nam 26, Ho Chi Minh City 8, Hanoi 2, Quang Ngai 2, and Thai Binh and Dak Lak 1 each.
The total number of infections nationwide has reached 590, of which 373 have recovered, 5 have died, and 213 patients are currently undergoing treatment.
