Two more Covid-19 patients died
At noon on August 2, the Ministry of Health confirmed the deaths of patients 524 and 475, the 4th and 5th deaths in the past 3 days.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, Head of the Ministry of Health's Covid-19 Prevention and Control Unit in Da Nang City, said that "patient 524", an 86-year-old female from Quang Nam, had underlying heart failure and chronic kidney failure. From July 11 to 16, the patient was treated at the Emergency Department of Da Nang Dermatology Hospital, diagnosed with superinfected shingles, and transferred to the Emergency Department of Da Nang Hospital on the same day.
On July 18, she had a fever and was transferred to Binh An General Hospital for treatment. On July 27, the patient was transferred to Quang Nam Regional General Hospital for treatment. On July 31, the patient was transferred to Hue Central Hospital for treatment, in a state of drowsiness and exhaustion.
On August 1, the patient was conscious, still tired; at 6:00 p.m. he was in a coma, his pulse gradually slowed down, and at 10:00 p.m. his pulse returned. At midnight on August 2, the patient became seriously ill, had cardiac and respiratory arrest, and died at 5:30 a.m.
Diagnosis of death due to septic shock, poisoning, and irreversible acute respiratory failure in a patient with multiple organ failure infected with Covid-19.
On July 17, the patient developed a fever. On July 30, she tested positive for nCoV and was transferred to quarantine. At 4:30 a.m. on August 2, the patient became severely exhausted and fell into a deep coma just 15 minutes later. She died at 5:45 a.m.
The patient's death was diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome, cholecystitis, osteoarthritis, hypertension and Covid-19.
These are the fourth and fifth Covid-19 patients to die in Vietnam since the outbreak began earlier this year. Yesterday, "patient 499" died of leukemia, severe pneumonia, and Covid-19. The two previous deaths were "patient 428" who suffered a heart attack on an underlying medical condition and Covid-19; "patient 437" who suffered septic shock on an underlying medical condition and Covid-19.
The Ministry of Health recorded that it is treating 18 severe Covid-19 patients related to Da Nang, all of whom are elderly and have many underlying medical conditions.
In the past 9 days, Da Nang recorded a total of 104 cases, Quang Nam 26, Ho Chi Minh City 8, Hanoi 2, Quang Ngai 2, Thai Binh and Dak Lak each 1.
The total number of infections nationwide is 590, of which 373 people have recovered, 5 people have died, and 213 patients are being treated.
