Five more communes in Nghe An detect African swine fever
(Baonghean.vn) - Localities are urgently destroying infected pigs and spraying disinfectants on all roads in the epidemic area.
According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, on June 13, in Nghe An, there were 5 more communes testing positive for African swine fever, including: Hoa Thanh (Yen Thanh), Nghi Lien (Vinh City), Tri Le (Que Phong), Nhan Son (Do Luong) and Mai Son (Tuong Duong). In addition, there were 2 positive test samples at the old epidemic areas of Phu Thanh (Yen Thanh) and Hung Tien (Hung Nguyen).

On the morning of June 14, 2019, Vinh City Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station coordinated with Nghi Lien commune authorities to destroy pigs infected with African swine fever at the wild boar farm of Mr. Ngo Ba Phuong's family in hamlet 10.
Mr. Phuong's farm has 17 wild boars including: 11 sows, 1 boar and 5 piglets, total weight about 1,100kg.
To prevent the spread of the disease, Nghi Lien commune has set up two checkpoints and used 300 kg of lime powder to disinfect and prevent pigs from being transported in and out of the epidemic area. At the same time, the commune is requesting the district veterinary station to provide an additional 100 liters of chemicals to disinfect the entire commune.
Hoa Thanh commune is the 13th locality in Yen Thanh district to have African swine fever on June 13. Records on the morning of June 14 show that Yen Thanh district has sent officials in charge to the area to coordinate with Hoa Thanh commune to deploy epidemic prevention solutions according to the commune and district's scenarios.

In the immediate future, the commune will spray disinfectants on all roads in the epidemic area and destroy two pigs belonging to Ms. Hoang Thi Tri's family. At the same time, the commune's loudspeaker system will inform people that swine fever has appeared in the commune.

We have set up 3 main quarantine checkpoints on National Highway 7B and inter-commune roads, and 3 additional checkpoints at the intersections leading to the epidemic area of Phan Dinh Phung hamlet. From the evening of June 13, the commune has banned pig slaughtering in the area.

On June 13, African swine fever also occurred in Nhan Son commune, Do Luong district; Tri Le commune, Que Phong district; Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district.
Thus, Do Luong district currently has 3 communes with the epidemic: Trung Son, Da Son and Nhan Son. Que Phong district has 2 communes with the epidemic: Que Son and Tri Le. Tuong Duong district has 2 communes with the epidemic: Luong Minh and Mai Son.
Thus, from March 13, 2019 to present, in Nghe An province, African swine fever has occurred in 922 households in 238 hamlets of 95 communes, 18 districts, cities and towns. The total number of pigs infected with the disease destroyed is 3,543, with a total weight of 150,756 kg.
