This morning (September 13), the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation competed very well, winning two more valuable medals thanks to athlete Cao Ngoc Hung and swimmer Vo Thanh Tung.

Vo Thanh Tung won a historic silver medal for Vietnamese swimming at the Paralympic arena.

On the green track, Vo Thanh Tung won the silver medal - a historic silver medal for Vietnamese swimming in the Paralympic arena with a time of 33 seconds 94, behind the host athlete Brazil who won the gold medal with a time of 32 seconds 78. Tung ranked above American athlete Perkins Roy who won the bronze medal with a time of 34 seconds 42.

In the qualifying round last night, Tung finished 2nd with a time of 33.87 seconds, breaking the Asian record.

Vo Thanh Tung was born in Phu My commune, Phu Tan district, An Giang province. He was born like any other normal child, but unfortunately, at the age of 2, Tung suffered from a prolonged fever that gradually shriveled his legs... That misfortune did not make the boy from the Mekong Delta give up. Tung started to learn to walk, although it was difficult, he never gave up. And God did not disappoint him, after 6 years of learning to walk soaked in sweat and tears, Tung was able to walk again with his own two feet.

Thanh Tung's athletic career came to him by chance. Seeing that he was a good swimmer, his uncle introduced him to Can Tho city to live with the disabled. Tung's swimming talent has developed greatly since then.

The opportunity came to Tung and opened a new page in his life. In 2005, Tung was invited to compete for the Can Tho City Disabled Sports Movement. Also in 2005, Tung participated in the National Sports Festival for the first time and won 3 gold medals. In 2009, for the first time competing for the Vietnam Disabled Swimming Team, Tung broke the Southeast Asian record twice.

Since then, Tung has had almost no rivals in the region. Not only that, he has excelled in conquering the Asian gold medal in 2010 and especially the miracle of winning 5 gold medals at the Asian Paragames 2014, most recently the world bronze medal, achieving the A standard to qualify for the 2016 Paralympics and the gold medal at the recent European Open Championship.

Athletics athlete Cao Ngoc Hung won a bronze medal in the javelin throw with a result of 42.96 m in his third attempt. This is the first bronze medal of the Athletics team after 5 Paralympic Games. The gold and silver medals belonged to 2 athletes from Iran: Khalvandi Mohammad with a result of 45.63 m and HEIDARI TIL Abdollah with a result of 43.77 m.
