Another giant yam weighing 16 kg has been unearthed by locals.

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 7, 2017, Ms. Vang Thi Thom from Lau village, Thach Giam commune, Tuong Duong district, while picking bamboo shoots in the forest, dug up a yam weighing 16 kg.

A 16 kg jicama certainly has a much larger "size" than the gourds and pumpkins placed next to it.

According to Mrs. Thom, while picking bamboo shoots in the forest, she discovered a clump of bean plants on a hillside. She intended to take some seeds home to plant. She was completely surprised to find a large bean plant, and when she dug it up, she found a giant bean yam, "I've never seen one so big before." Upon returning home, she immediately borrowed a scale and learned that the yam she had dug up weighed 16 kg.

It takes both hands to lift the jicama off the ground.

Many people came out of curiosity to see and photograph this giant yam.

Since digging up the "giant" yam, Mrs. Thom's family has suddenly been receiving many visitors. Many people are curious to see this special yam with their own eyes. Some congratulate Mrs. Thom's family, believing it to be a sign of good fortune and a bountiful harvest.

Reportedly, on December 11th, Mr. Vi Van Thuyen from Huoi Dua village, Thong Thu commune (Que Phong district), while working in his field, unearthed a giant yam weighing 16 kg. This is considered the largest yam ever found in Nghe An province.
