More outbreaks of African swine fever in Con Cuong and Ky Son districts.

Con Cuong was the first outbreak site.

On the afternoon of June 6th, the People's Committee of Con Cuong district issued a decision declaring an outbreak in Bong Khe commune.

Previously, on June 5th, the Veterinary Department of Region III announced that test results of samples from sick pigs belonging to Mr. Ho Anh Tuan in Lien Tan village, Bong Khe commune, were positive for African swine fever. Three pigs weighing 201 kg belonging to Mr. Tuan had previously shown unusual loss of appetite and red skin.

Authorities in Con Cuong district have carried out the culling of the affected pigs according to established procedures to prevent the spread of the disease. In addition, disinfection, restrictions on vehicle traffic through the outbreak area, and the establishment of quarantine checkpoints to prevent further spread are being implemented simultaneously by various district departments and agencies.

Bong Khe is the first locality in Con Cuong district to experience an outbreak of African swine fever. The district People's Committee has planned to allocate contingency funds to purchase 20 tons of lime powder and other equipment for disease prevention, control, and containment. The district has established a mobile team to inspect pig slaughtering facilities throughout the district.

The commune at the gateway to Ky Son has an outbreak.

According to information from the Ky Son District Livestock and Veterinary Station, on the afternoon of June 6th, one more commune in the district, Chieu Luu, tested positive for African swine fever.

The outbreak occurred at the livestock farm of Mr. Kha Van Quen in Cu village, Chieu Luu commune.

Also on June 6th, Ky Son district received 5 more samples from sick pigs that tested positive for African swine fever in the communes of Pha Danh, Bao Nam, Bac Ly, and Keng Du. These communes had previously detected outbreaks of African swine fever.

Later that afternoon, the District Livestock and Veterinary Station, in coordination with local authorities, compiled a list of pigs infected with the disease for culling.

The recent outbreaks of African swine fever in Ky Son district occurred in villages inhabited by the Khmu and Thai ethnic groups; no pigs belonging to the Mong ethnic group have been affected.

Thus, as of now, the mountainous district of Kỳ Sơn has 12 communes testing positive for African swine fever, including: Mường Típ, Hữu Kiệm, Tà Cạ, Bảo Thắng, Bảo Nam, Mường Ải, Keng Đu, Na Loi, Bắc Lý, Phà Đánh, Nậm Cắn and Chiêu Lưu.
