To date, the Vietnam Journalists Association's portal has detected the removal of 79 news articles from online newspapers and websites. Nearly half of these removed articles contained inaccurate information related to violations of the Construction Law, the Land Law, illegal construction projects, and environmental violations.
Thanks to this device, from the beginning of August 2017 until now, the Vietnam Journalists Association's Electronic Information Portal has monitored over 100 online newspapers and a number of websites licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
By the end of August 2017, the Vietnam Journalists Association's online portal will begin monitoring and supervising all licensed online newspapers and websites.
The device for monitoring online news outlets that remove or edit articles is software developed by the Vietnam Journalists Association's Electronic Information Portal in collaboration with Nam Loi Trading and General Corporation.
The device helps to check and monitor the removal and editing of articles by newspapers and online information sites, providing specific information on the publication time, editing/removal time, and the content of the removed/edited articles.
This device operates 24/7 and is managed by technicians from the Vietnam Journalists Association's online portal. Weekly, the technicians report the results to the Vietnam Journalists Association and provide information to relevant press management agencies. The use of this device aims to monitor and encourage newspapers to be more cautious in their reporting, preventing a "race" to publish unverified information, false information, or sensitive information, and contributing to the detection of negative practices in removing or editing articles on online newspapers.
Nguyen Hoa Van, Director of the Vietnam Journalists Association's Electronic Information Portal, also stated that the introduction of this device is a practical measure that contributes to monitoring the implementation of professional ethical regulations by reporters of media agencies.
Recently, false information has appeared on online newspapers, negatively impacting society even after corrections were made. Therefore, reporters and media organizations need to strictly comply with regulations on publishing information on the Internet...
Operating equipment that provides accurate information on the removal and editing of articles on online newspapers is essential. The Vietnam Journalists Association believes that in the future, this activity will contribute to preventing and eliminating the phenomenon of "published in the morning, discussed at noon, removed in the afternoon" related to the publication of information on online newspapers today.../.
