(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing Decision No. 2790/QD-UB dated September 15, 2022, on undergrounding telecommunications and power cables in Nghe An province, from the end of 2022 to the present, Vinh City has received tens of billions of VND in investment to build infrastructure for undergrounding telecommunications and power cables on key transportation routes.

Specifically, after constructing trenches for laying cables and technical culverts to underground the telecommunications system and the power grid of the Electricity sector along the sidewalks of Le Nin Boulevard and some residential areas in the new urban area, since the beginning of the year, the Provincial People's Committee has invested in the construction of a technical trench system to underground telecommunications and power cables along both sides.Vinh – Cua Lo Boulevard.

Meanwhile, across the road to the north, in Nghi Phu commune, another construction unit is leveling the ground to lay underground telecommunications and power cables. Currently, over 50% of the work has been completed. Photo: Nguyen Hai

A representative of a contractor at the construction site stated: "This is the most comprehensively developed road infrastructure project to date. Parallel to the elevated road, the Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard also features an underground drainage system for power and telecommunications cables, both upstream and downstream, totaling over 20 km in length, starting from the intersection with Le Nin Boulevard and ending at the Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard."

Along with the undergrounding of power and telecommunication cables, another unit is also constructing a drainage ditch running along this road. Simultaneous construction will help reduce investment costs and facilitate land clearance. Photo: Nguyen Hai

Based on observation, the Vinh - Cua Lo highway is a vital transportation artery.Vinh City in the futureTherefore, to ensure aesthetics and development requirements, the province will invest in underground infrastructure, then hand it over for lease. It is expected that, after the rainwater drainage ditches and underground cable system are completed, Vinh City will soon invest in wastewater drainage infrastructure along this boulevard.

Compared to urban wastewater drainage or surface water treatment systems, the underground cable conduit along the Vinh - Cua Lo boulevard is divided into two parallel lines, with one channel reserved for power cables and the other for telecommunications cables. Photo: Nguyen Hai

Previously, during the urban development and renovation process aimed at exploiting and developing the night-time service economy, Vinh City invested in burying telecommunications and power cables underground in night-time streets on Cao Thang Street and pedestrian streets on Ho Tung Mau Street. This undergrounded and resolved the problem of tangled power lines resembling a "spiderweb" on Tran Phu and Quang Trung streets; and the areas adjacent to Nguyen Van Cu, Truong Thi, and Nguyen Tai streets, among others.

According to the plan issued with Decision 2790/QD-UB of the Provincial People's Committee, from 2022 to 2025 and with a vision to 2030, the province will invest in burying or replacing 581.03 km of telecommunications and power cables currently hanging along transportation routes in 18 districts, cities, and towns underground to ensure safety for people and vehicles during the rainy and stormy season.
