The number of candidates choosing the Social Sciences exam unexpectedly increased sharply.

As of the morning of April 17th, 349,908 candidates had chosen the Social Sciences exam, accounting for 49.61% of the total number of candidates registered for the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination.

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, as of 8:00 AM on April 17th, the total number of candidates registered for the National High School Graduation Examination is 705,264.

The number of candidates registering for admission to universities and colleges is 526,810 (74.7%), of which independent candidates account for 45,483 (6.45%).

As of the morning of April 17th, 349,908 candidates had chosen to take the Social Sciences exam.

Regarding the distribution of exam choices: 270,730 candidates (38.39%) chose the Natural Sciences exam; 349,908 candidates (49.61%) chose the Social Sciences exam. The number of candidates who registered for both the Natural Sciences and Social Sciences exams was 61,333 (8.7%).

A total of 458,287 exam registration applications have been entered into the system (reaching 86.99%). Of these, 458,287 (100%) were first choices, 402,580 (87.84%) were second choices, 325,401 (71%) were third choices, 234,438 (51.16%) were fourth choices, and 161,078 (35.15%) were fifth choices. The remaining 276,084 (60.24%) were other choices.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, as of April 16th, 513,618 (74.73%) candidates had registered for admission to universities and colleges offering teacher training programs.

The number of candidates registering for the Social Sciences exam still significantly outnumbers those registering for the Natural Sciences exam. Specifically, 49.54% of candidates registered for the Social Sciences exam, while only 38.46% registered for the Natural Sciences exam. Over 60,000 candidates registered to take both exams.

In terms of preference, over 50% of candidates registered for 4 preferences. Nearly 86% of candidates registered to take the exam for their first preference, almost 88% for their second preference, 71% for their third preference, 51% for their fourth preference, 35% for their fifth preference, and over 60% for the remaining preferences.
