Candidate Tran Dinh Xuan at the Thanh Son High School examination center used his mobile phone to take a picture of the Literature exam paper and sent it via Messenger to ask for help solving it.

On June 26th, the Phu Tho Provincial Police announced that Tran Dinh Xuan, a 1998-born candidate at the Thanh Son High School examination center, had used his mobile phone to take photos of the Literature exam questions. Xuan then sent them to Dinh Cong Lam (22 years old, from Thanh Son district) via the Messenger application on Facebook to ask for help in solving them.

Unable to solve the problems, Mr. Lam sent images of the Literature exam questions to Trang (a student at Vinh Phuc University of Education 2). After solving questions 2 and 3 of the reading comprehension section, Ms. Trang sent them back to Mr. Lam to pass on to the candidate, Ms. Xuan.

But by the time the answers were sent to Xuan's phone, the 120-minute exam time was over.

A photo of Xuan's exam paper was posted on social media before the exam time was over.

The Phu Tho Provincial Police have advised the Phu Tho Provincial Steering Committee for the National High School Examination to suspend the examination for candidate Tran Dinh Xuan and two invigilators, Phi Thi Mai Linh (a teacher at Minh Hoa High School, Yen Lap district) and Nguyen Van Huyen (a lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy).

The Literature exam started at 7:35 AM and didn't end until 9:35 AM. Candidates were allowed to leave early after two-thirds of the time had elapsed (at 8:55 AM), but had to return all exam papers, answer sheets, and scratch paper. However, around 9 AM on June 25th, after two-thirds of the Literature exam time had passed, the exam paper for this subject appeared on social media.

According to the regulations for the national high school graduation exam, candidates will be suspended from the exam if they receive a warning but continue to violate the regulations at the reprimand and warning levels during the exam for that subject; bring unauthorized items into the exam room; take the exam questions out of the exam room or receive answers from outside the exam room.

In addition, candidates who write or draw unrelated content on their exam paper, or engage in aggressive behavior, threaten exam officials, or threaten other candidates will also be suspended from the exam.

Candidates who are suspended from the exam will receive a score of 0 for the exam or component subject they are taking. They will not be allowed to continue taking subsequent exams or components, and their exam results will not be used for high school graduation consideration or for university/college admissions.
