After surpassing the 1,900-point mark and setting a new peak, the VN-Index returned to a state of slight volatility as investors maintained a cautious, exploratory attitude.

Opening the trading session on the morning of May 8th, the VN-Index reversed course and fell below the reference level as red continued to dominate the electronic board. However, the selling pressure was not too strong, so the extent of the index's decline was not alarming.

Trading became quite cautious, with virtually no sectors standing out, and most investors were in a wait-and-see mode, shifting only a small portion of their portfolios.

Meanwhile, the group of most liquid stocks on the exchange, including banking stocks MSB, BID, MBB, CTG, and SHB, only showed slight gains.

At the close of this morning's trading session, the banking sector saw gains with BID (+3.06%), CTG (+1.68%), MBB (+0.38%), VCB (+1.49%), and MSB (+1.54%). Similarly, the chemical sector also saw gains with GVR (+0.98%), DPM (+0.19%), BFC (+3.26%), VTZ (+0.48%), and DRI (+0.7%).

Meanwhile, the real estate sector was dominated by red, with VHM (-2.29%), VIC (-2.59%), NVL (-2.42%), VRE (-2.33%), VPI (-1.58%), and DXG (-0.65%). Similarly, the construction and materials sector saw declines of CTD (-4.48%), PC1 (-2.62%), VCG (-0.22%), CII (-0.27%), and HHV (-0.4%).

In the basic resources group, HPG (-0.18%), MSR (-0.99%), HSG (-0.4%), SHI (-0.7%), and NKG (-0.7%) saw declines. Similarly, in the energy group, POW (-1.39%), NT2 (-5.54%), and REE (-0.81%) experienced declines.

The VN-Index fell 9.27 points to 1,899.74 points (-0.49%) compared to the previous session. Similarly, the UPCoM-Index decreased by 127.61 points (-0.44%), equivalent to 0.57 points, and the HNX-Index decreased by 246.51 points (-0.5%), equivalent to 1.25 points.

Market liquidity reached VND 11,025.677 billion, with 374,000 shares traded. Across the sector, 82 stocks rose (3 hitting the ceiling price), 205 stocks fell, and 58 stocks dropped to the reference price.

According to experts at Vietcombank Securities Company, the VN-Index has the potential to fluctuate around the 1,900-point mark and continue rising to seek new peaks.

Investors are advised to take advantage of intraday price fluctuations to gradually invest in stocks with strong fundamentals and in leading sectors such as banking and consumer goods.

According to experts at Asean Securities Company, the base scenario suggests that the index is likely to continue its upward trend to test the resistance zone of 1,920-1,930 points in the next session, where profit-taking pressure may increase before a clearer trend is established.

In this context, the optimal strategy for short-term investors is to prioritize buying during corrections, avoid chasing rallies due to excitement, and proactively take partial profits at resistance levels.
