Nghe An's retail market is bustling during the holiday season.

Observations at major shopping malls and supermarkets such as GO! Vinh, Lotte Mart, Mega Market, etc., show that during the holiday period, the number of shoppers increased by an average of 50-70% each day. In particular, the consumption of ready-to-eat food, beverages, frozen goods, and vegetables and fruits increased sharply.

Most supermarkets have proactively doubled their stock compared to normal days, while also implementing a series of promotional programs with discounts of 30-50%, helping to maintain stable prices and attract consumers. Many families choose supermarkets as a shopping and entertainment destination, especially during hot weather and when prices are clearly displayed.

Mr. Vo Ba Loc, a resident from Tan Ky district, said: “During the long holiday, I took my children and grandchildren to Vinh to play, swim at Cua Lo beach, and go shopping and have fun at the shopping malls. The goods in the supermarkets are diverse, prices are stable, and there are many promotional programs, so it's very suitable for people from smaller districts like us. Besides buying ready-made food, we also bought quite a lot of dry goods such as noodles, pho, spices… and imported fruits.”

Besides shopping, supermarkets and shopping malls also organize large-scale promotional programs and enhance entertainment and dining services to extend the time customers spend there.

At traditional markets throughout the province, the atmosphere was equally vibrant. The number of visitors increased by 30-40%, mainly consisting of local residents and day-trip tourists. Stalls selling fresh produce, vegetables, dried goods, and household items sold quickly, but prices generally remained stable.

Small traders had proactively secured their supplies in advance, ensuring sufficient supply and preventing shortages or unusual price increases. Some refreshing fruits like watermelon, oranges, and pineapples sold very well thanks to the hot weather, with prices remaining the same as usual.

During the holidays, most students return to their hometowns, and many families go on vacation. However, a large number of people from other areas flock to Vinh, especially children studying or working far from home. Therefore, the number of customers at the market during the holidays is quite high, and consumption of goods increases slightly. Food items are the best-selling due to increased demand for meals at restaurants and homes. Items such as crabs, lobsters, fresh squid, and shrimp are in high demand at both local markets and coastal restaurants.

Not only local markets, but also seafood restaurants in coastal tourist areas such as Cua Lo (Vinh City), Quynh Bang (Quynh Luu), Dien Thanh (Dien Chau)... have recorded a 5-7 fold increase in consumption compared to normal days. The prices of seafood dishes are updated daily according to market fluctuations.

"We publicly display our prices so customers can easily choose. Even though ingredient prices have increased, we still try to keep prices reasonable," said Nguyen Van Thuan, owner of a seafood restaurant in Quynh Bang (Quynh Luu).

Increased purchasing power and rising prices have brought joy to fishermen and aquaculture farmers. In the coastal areas of Cua Lo, Dien Chau, and Quynh Luu, many fishing boats have increased their trips, harvesting fresh seafood such as squid, pomfret, and sea snails.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sang, a fisherman from Nghi Hai ward (Cua Lo town), said: “The price of squid caught has increased to 400,000-500,000 VND/kg, and traders come to the dock to buy it all, so we fishermen are very happy. Some boats return to the shore at 6 am, and by 7 am, all the catch is gone.”

In the context of continued economic pressure, maintaining price stability and stimulating consumer demand during the holiday season is a positive sign, contributing to boosting domestic growth and restoring purchasing power in the following months.
