Hoang Mai town held mobile court sessions for two cases.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 29th, at the meeting hall of Quynh Di ward, Hoang Mai town, the People's Court of Hoang Mai town held a mobile trial for two cases: "Theft of property" and "Receiving stolen property"; "Illegal trafficking of narcotics" and "Harboring the illegal use of narcotics" occurring in the area.
According to the indictment, Tran Dinh Tu (born in 1984) and Tran Dinh Tai (born in 1994) are two brothers residing in Hamlet 6, Quynh Loc Commune, Hoang Mai Town. Between 10:50 PM on November 1, 2015, and 1:20 AM on November 2, 2015, in Quynh Phuong Ward, Hoang Mai Town, Tran Dinh Tu, driving a motorcycle with license plate 37N8-3578, carrying Tran Dinh Tai as a passenger, used a homemade electric stun gun to steal four dogs from residents in Quynh Phuong and Quynh Di wards. The total value at the time of the theft was 2,760,000 VND.

Afterward, they sold the dogs to Ngo Thi Thuy (born in 1978), residing in Block 8, Mai Hung Ward, Hoang Mai Town. Although she knew the dogs were stolen, Thuy bought them because she was tempted by the low price. While the transaction was underway, the Mai Hung Ward police discovered the activity, drew up a report, and took the individuals along with all the tools and equipment to the police station for questioning.
The seized items included four dogs, a Yamaha Sirius motorcycle, a homemade kit used for stealing dogs, and other related items. At the trial, the defendants admitted to their crimes.
After considering the circumstances, the panel of judges sentenced Tran Dinh Tu to 6 months in prison; Tran Dinh Tai to 9 months in prison, plus a previous 30-month suspended sentence imposed by the People's Court of Quynh Luu District for resisting public officials, totaling 39 months in prison; and Ngo Thi Thuy to 6 months in prison with a suspended sentence and a 12-month probation period.
In the second case, according to the indictment, Ho Viet Long (born in 1974), residing in Hong Phong block, Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town, and Phan Thi Vinh (born in 1976), residing in Hong Thai block, Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town, had a relationship and lived together as husband and wife. Long himself was a long-time drug addict.

On September 12, 2015, Ho Viet Long and Phan Thi Vinh engaged in the illegal buying and selling of methamphetamine twice, once at Long's house and once at a three-way intersection in Hong Phong block, Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town. Ho Viet Long also once harbored four people using methamphetamine at his residence.
Specifically, at around 12 PM on September 12, 2015, Long and Vinh sold two packets of methamphetamine to Ho Duc Hoang for 1 million VND. After the sale, Long agreed and used a homemade drug paraphernalia to allow Ho Duc Hoang, Nguyen Van Ngoc, Pham Dinh Phi, and Ho Ngoc Vien to consume both packets of methamphetamine.
Later that same day, at around 9:30 PM, Long told Vinh that he was going to sell drugs in Phuong Hong block, Quynh Phuong ward, where he was caught red-handed by the Quynh Phuong ward police, who seized 1 packet of drugs weighing 0.11 grams, 500,000 VND, and 1 mobile phone.
At the trial, the defendants pleaded guilty. The panel of judges decided to prosecute Ho Viet Long for "Illegal trafficking of narcotics" and "Harboring the illegal use of narcotics," with a total sentence of 15 years in prison for both offenses. Phan Thi Vinh was prosecuted for "Illegal trafficking of narcotics," receiving a sentence of 7 years in prison.
