Many residents of Gladstone, Queensland, saw a bright fireball in the sky yesterday before it crashed to the ground, causing a fire.A slight tremor, similar to an earthquake.according toInternational Business Times.

Witnesses described a fireball plunging from the sky, accompanied by a blinding flash of lightning overhead, before disappearing over the sea. Police received numerous calls reporting the fireball, and members of the Higgins Storm Chase team suggested it was a meteor that had crashed into the ocean.

A man happened to see a strange object in the sky while sitting in his car. "It looked like a shooting star and lit up the beach, then after about a minute, there was a loud bang and a shock wave spread across the water, making my car shake a little," the man said.

"I heard a loud sound, like a sonic boom, and it felt like something was moving very fast through the air. I don't know what it was, a meteor or space debris. I didn't feel any tremor, but the sound indicated an object crashing to the ground," shared resident Lanky Jones.

The largest crater on Earth has been discovered in Australia, caused by a massive meteorite impact on the planet approximately 300 million years ago. "Large impacts like this play a crucial role in Earth's evolution," commented Dr. Andrew Glikson of the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the Australian National University.
