Lach Van fishing port has up to 200 boats of Dien Chau fishermen entering and leaving every day. Because the boats are small, the seafood caught is mostly shrimp and mixed fish, which have low economic value. Every day, up to 600 - 700 people come in and out to buy seafood for consumption. However, the problem that many people are concerned about is that although the port has a clean water supply system installed, there is no water, so people have to wash seafood with river water.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, who specializes in buying and selling seafood at Lach Van fishing port, said: People want to have clean water to wash fish right at the port. Because there is no clean water, after purchasing, people carry everything down to the river to wash. Those who are careful will go home and wash it with clean water before selling it at the market, otherwise they will take it directly to the market to sell. This river water source is polluted every day by waste from the fishing port and boats, so it smells unpleasant.

Talking to us, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho - Director of Nghe An Fishing Port said: The reason is that the water source of the factory is unstable and there is no budget to provide clean water at the fishing port. In the future, the unit will find a solution to provide water for people to use. If the government does not support, it will be forced to collect fees from people, but collecting fees from people will be difficult because the management staff at the port is thin.
However, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Dien Ngoc Commune People's Committee said: Dien Chau water plant located in Dien Ngoc commune was built in 2008 with a capacity of 2,000 m3/day, providing water for 1,500 households in 3 communes of Dien Thanh, Dien Ngoc, Dien Bich. Thus, the factory has not operated at full capacity, only reaching 50%. The water source of the water plant is taken from the Bung River, meeting the needs of the factory, even in the summer. In recent years, the clean water source of the factory has been a stable supply for the people.
Thus, the Nghe An Fishing Port leadership's claim that the factory's water source is unstable is unfounded; and the unit needs to soon have a solution to ensure a clean water supply for people at Lach Van fishing port to use./.
