Lack of water, hundreds of hectares of rice in Con Cuong cannot be planted

Up to this point, the entire Mau Duc commune has only been able to cultivate 206 hectares of rice, and there are still 124 hectares of summer-autumn rice fields waiting for water. In the coming time, if there is no rain, the commune has a policy of switching to growing corn and other dry crops, but it will still have to wait for rain to be able to prepare the land and sow.
Mr. Ngan Van Duong - Vice Chairman of Mau Duc Commune People's Committee said: In the past few days, the commune has mobilized people to dredge streams and gather water to save rice, but has only been able to supply water to nearly 100 hectares. Currently, streams and creeks in the area have dried up.

Thach Ngan commune has a total area of 232 hectares of rice fields, but so far only 25 hectares have been planted, the remaining 159 hectares cannot be planted due to lack of water. In the current drought and water shortage, the planted rice fields cannot grow.
Mr. Lo Thanh Huan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Ngan Commune said: The commune has two main streams, Nam Cai and Can, which normally serve to irrigate 100 hectares, but are currently dry. If at the same time last year, the entire rice area in the area was closed, this year the whole commune has only been able to plant 25 hectares, the rest is waiting for water.
This summer-autumn crop, Con Cuong has planted 2,302 hectares. Prolonged drought, water sources from streams, lakes and dams have dried up, the summer-autumn rice fields are seriously lacking water, of which nearly 500 hectares of rice cannot be planted due to lack of water, at risk of being abandoned or converted to other crops; concentrated in the communes on the left bank such as Thach Ngan, Mau Duc, Don Phuc.
The heat not only causes difficulties in agricultural production but also affects the lives of hundreds of households. Currently, hundreds of households in the mountainous district of Con Cuong are seriously lacking in domestic water, and wells have dried up. Water for daily use and drinking mainly depends on streams.
