Woman charged with assaulting and tearing the clothes of an 11th-grade female student in a jealous rage.
Dung persuaded her brother-in-law to beat up an 11th-grade female student as a form of revenge due to jealousy, despite the victim's repeated apologies.
On March 5th, authorities in Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh province) announced that they have initiated a criminal case and indicted Le Phuong Dung (21 years old) and Nguyen Thi Huyen (19 years old, her sister-in-law, both residing in Huong Lam commune) for the crime of humiliating another person, under Article 155 of the 2015 Penal Code. The two suspects were released on bail but prohibited from leaving their place of residence.
According to the investigation results, at around 6:00 AM on February 26th, due to a jealous conflict with a female student in the 11th grade at Huong Khe High School, Dung asked someone to call her rival and arrange a meeting at Binh Son Lake (Huong Khe town) to "talk things over".
Upon arrival, Dung and Huyen tore off the female student's clothes while hurling insults and vulgar language, despite the victim's repeated apologies. Many people witnessed the incident, but no one intervened.
A few minutes later, seeing the young man arrive on his motorbike, Dung and Huyen stopped the assault and left.
Article 155 of the 2015 Penal Code: Whoever seriously offends the dignity and honor of another person shall be punished with a warning, a fine of from 10 million to 30 million VND, or non-custodial correctional punishment for up to three years. The following offenses are punishable by imprisonment from three months to two years: committing the offense twice, against two or more people; abusing one's position or authority; against a person performing official duties; against a person who teaches, nurtures, cares for, or treats oneself; using computer networks or telecommunications, or electronic means to commit the offense; causing mental and behavioral disorders in the victim ranging from 11 to 45%... |
