Woman who beat up and tore clothes of 11th grade female student was prosecuted
Dung asked her brother-in-law to beat up an 11th grade female student out of jealousy, despite the victim's repeated apologies.
On March 5, authorities of Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh) announced that they had just initiated a case and prosecuted Le Phuong Dung (21 years old) and Nguyen Thi Huyen (19 years old, sister-in-law, both residing in Huong Lam commune) for the crime of Humiliating others, according to Article 155 of the 2015 Penal Code. The two suspects were released on bail but were prohibited from leaving their place of residence.
According to the investigation results, at around 6:00 a.m. on February 26, due to a jealous conflict with a female 11th grade student at Huong Khe High School, Dung asked someone to call her opponent to meet at Binh Son Lake (Huong Khe town) to "talk".
Upon arriving, Dung and Huyen tore the female student’s clothes while insulting and swearing at her despite her repeated apologies. Many people witnessed but no one intervened.
A few minutes later, seeing the young man on a motorbike coming, Dung and Huyen stopped assaulting and left.
Article 155 of the 2015 Penal Code: Anyone who seriously insults the dignity or honor of another person shall be subject to a warning, a fine of 10 million to 30 million VND, or non-custodial reform for up to three years.
