On August 8th, the police arrested Le Thanh Hung, born in 1994, for impersonating a police officer and defrauding people of their property.

Previously, the Thuong Xuan District Police received a report from Ms. NTH, born in 1981 (residing in Dong Tho Ward, Thanh Hoa City) stating that in 2019, a person using the social media platform Zalo with the account "Le Thanh Hung" and Facebook "Cau Ba Ho Le" impersonated a Thuong Xuan District Police officer and befriended Ms. H...

After accepting her friend request, the suspect fabricated various scenarios, such as going to the hospital or attending a funeral for a relative, to borrow money from Ms. H, totaling 90 million VND.

In early 2023, needing money, Ms. H. messaged and called Hung to demand the return of the money but was unable to contact him. Realizing she had been scammed, Ms. H. filed a complaint with the police. Immediately after receiving Ms. H.'s report, the Thuong Xuan District Police quickly launched an investigation to clarify the matter.

The suspect is Le Thanh Hung.

By August 5, 2023, the Thuong Xuan District Police had identified Le Thanh Hung, residing in Hoa An commune, Phu Hoa district, Phu Yen province, as the owner of the Zalo account "Le Thanh Hung" and the Facebook account "Cau Ba Ho Le". Hung was also the person who used these social media accounts to impersonate a Thuong Xuan District Police officer in order to defraud and steal property from Ms. H.

Based on the evidence collected, the Thuong Xuan District Police, in coordination with the Hoa An Commune Police and the Phu Hoa District Police of Phu Yen Province, conducted an urgent search of Le Thanh Hung's residence. During the search, the police seized: 1 pair of handcuffs, 2 helmets with police insignia, along with police belts, shoes, and socks…

Upon being summoned to the police station for questioning, Le Thanh Hung confessed that due to debt, he had conceived the idea of impersonating a police officer. He then used social media to approach, befriend, and flirt with naive women, asking for loans before defrauding and stealing their money.

To commit the crime, Le Thanh Hung bought a police uniform, wore it, took photos, and posted them on social media using his personal accounts to gain the trust of his "victims."

Currently, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Thuong Xuan District Police has detained Le Thanh Hung under emergency circumstances to continue investigating and clarifying his fraudulent activities involving the appropriation of property.
