Türkiye begins construction of a naval base on the Black Sea.
The Turkish Ministry of Defence has begun construction of a naval base on the Black Sea in the Trabzon region in the northeast of the country.

The current facility will be the ninth base of the Turkish Navy. The country currently possesses naval bases in Mersin and Iskenderun on the Mediterranean Sea, in Akzas and Focha on the Aegean Sea, in Golcuk on the Sea of Marmara, in Eregli on the Black Sea, as well as in Istanbul and Canakkale on the Bosphorus Strait.
Reports indicate that 400 military personnel and 200 civilian specialists will be working at the base.
