Latest information on the case of a mother killing her child to claim insurance benefits.
Na's husband, Nguyen Van H, passed away 5 years ago. After her husband's death, in May 2021, their youngest son, Nguyen Van H (born in 2018), also passed away. Then, in early 2023, H's older brother, Nguyen Van H, also died. The investigating agency has now determined that Na heartlessly murdered him.
As previously reported, the Investigation Police Department of Quang Nam province has served the indictment decision and temporarily detained To Thi Ty Na (born in 1981, residing in Ha Lam town, Thang Binh district) for the crime of murder.
The victim has been identified as Nguyen Van H. (born in 2017), Na's biological son. According to initial investigation results, following the directives of the Ministry of Public Security leadership on improving the quality and effectiveness of managing and resolving temporarily suspended cases and incidents, the Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police directed the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to review and examine related cases.
The investigation determined that at approximately 10 PM on January 2, 2023, at To Thi Ty Na's house, child H died in the bathroom. Based on the documents and evidence collected, the police determined that Na had committed the act of killing child H with the intention of profiting from insurance.
On the morning of April 6th, at the small, one-story house located deep in an alley in Ha Lam town, Thang Binh district, where Na and her mother live, our reporter met Mr. To Dinh Tung (born in 1971), Na's half-brother. During our conversation, Mr. Tung shared that the family has been very distressed these past few days because of Na's story, especially since hearing that the Criminal Investigation Department of the Quang Nam Provincial Police has indicted Na for the murder of her nephew H.
“My family is deeply ashamed. We hope the investigating authorities will clarify and severely punish Na's criminal act, because I don't know what to say now. Na has two surviving children: an older son in 11th grade in Da Nang and a daughter in 9th grade in Ha Lam town. My family will do our best to take care of them so they can focus on their studies,” Mr. Tung confided.

A leader of the Quang Nam Provincial Police said that the case is still under investigation by the Provincial Police Investigation Agency, so they cannot provide further information at this time. When new information becomes available, the Quang Nam Provincial Police will proactively provide it to the press.
