New smuggling methods have been discovered.

A shipment of medical equipment was undergoing transit procedures to Cambodia through Xa Mat border gate when it was inspected, discovered, and seized by authorities.

On May 3, the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch said that this unit had just coordinated with the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department - General Department of Customs, the Department of Police for Prevention of Smuggling Crimes (C74) - Ministry of Public Security and the Department of Police for Investigation of Crimes on Economic Management and Positions (PC46) - Ho Chi Minh City Police to monitor and detect a shipment of medical equipment, which is a used CT scanner (declared as 100% new goods of Japanese origin) consisting of 10 packages, weighing 5.7 tons, worth about over 3.2 billion VND.

It is known that this shipment was undergoing transit procedures to Cambodia through Xa Mat border gate when it was inspected, discovered and seized by authorities.

Used medical equipment is an item on the list of prohibited imports into Vietnam. Con Ong Transport and Logistics Joint Stock Company located at 39B Truong Son, Ward 4, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, with Mr. Dinh Huu Thanh, 42 years old, permanent residence in Zone 4, Cam Thuong Ward, Hai Duong City as Director, when carrying out transit procedures, the Company declared the imported goods as 100% new to avoid applying for a license from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In recent times, some subjects have taken advantage of the transit route to Cambodia for smuggling - this is a new smuggling method. The Customs Department has increased inspection and strict control of this route, continuously detecting and arresting many smuggling cases, there are cases where subjects break seals, swap goods on the way, smuggle them into the country for consumption or goods are transported to Cambodia and then find a way to return by road routes between Cambodia and Tay Ninh, An Giang or Binh Phuoc... to smuggle them into Vietnam for consumption.

A few days earlier, the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch also issued a Decision to prosecute Olympic Science and Technology Company Limited, located at 1/54 Lu Gia, Ward 15, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City, with Mr. Nguyen Kien Hung, 30 years old, registered residence at: 423 Hamlet 1, Gia Rai Town, Gia Rai District, Bac Lieu Province, for smuggling. He organized the import of a shipment of medical equipment, 50 ECG machines, falsely declaring the name of the goods to avoid applying for an import license from the Ministry of Health, the value of the shipment was more than 500 million VND.
