According to the TASS news agency. On June 23, speaking at a meeting of senior security representatives, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu made some noteworthy remarks. He stated that the security of BRICS countries is constantly under threat in the current international context.

According to Shoigu, BRICS needs to play a pivotal role. The organization must create a fair structure of international relations. He warned against allowing the international legal system to be replaced by a "rules-based order" unilaterally established by a few countries.

Shoigu noted that the central coordinating role of international organizations, led by the United Nations (UN), has effectively shrunk. Many UN Security Council resolutions are being unilaterally ignored or violated by some countries.

Furthermore, the World Trade Organization (WTO) no longer provides protection for its members participating in global trade.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also faced a similar situation. Shoigu argued that the organization had acted biasedly by only granting vaccine approvals quickly to "selected" countries during periods of highest pandemic risk.

The World Food Programme's activities have also been criticized as "biased." A prime example is the failure to fulfill commitments to Russia under the "Black Sea Initiative." The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is also politicizing investigation findings against countries that are not "friendly."

In addition, referring to developments in regional security, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council expressed deep concern. The events unfolding in Ukraine and across Europe are "creating fertile ground for the growth of extremism and violence."
