Goalkeeper redeems himself with a goal, SLNA U13 advances to the semi-finals.

(Baonghean.vn) – Despite dominating the game and taking the lead, a mistake by Xuan Son forced the quarter-final match between U13 SLNA and Binh Duong into a tense penalty shootout.

Before facing Binh Duong in the second quarter-final match, U13 SLNA was the top team in their group, having secured one draw against SHB Da Nang and two wins against Phu Nhuan and Binh Phuoc. Therefore, their opponent in the match at Vinh Stadium on the afternoon of July 13th was considered the underdog.

As expected, right after the opening whistle, the home team, U13 SLNA, surged into the opponent's half to increase pressure and create many opportunities. In particular, striker Luong Van Be Thua constantly switched flanks, causing a lot of trouble for the U13 Binh Duong defense.

In the opening minutes of the match, U13 SLNA often launched attacks down the flanks with the mobility of their wing players, especially number 20 - Dam Duc Vinh.

Struggling in attack, coach Huy Hoang substituted Van Quy for Vu Dang Minh Tu in the 18th minute. And in the 24th minute, striker Be Thua once again threatened goalkeeper Trong Phuc's goal for Binh Duong.

Finally, after creating a series of promising opportunities, U13 SLNA scored from a set piece. Following a corner kick from a teammate, striker Minh Tú rose high to head the ball into the net, opening the scoring for U13 SLNA.

In the second half, U14 Binh Duong still failed to create any dangerous opportunities for goalkeeper Xuan Son's goal. However, the home team's forwards created a tense situation. In the 40th minute, Anh Quan faced the goalkeeper but shot over the crossbar, missing a clear chance. Furthermore, Ba Ha tested goalkeeper Trong Phuc with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area.

After goalscorer Minh Tú left the field to make way for Trọng Hải, U13 SLNA maintained their dominance and intensified the pressure on U13 Bình Dương's goal. And with only seconds remaining, U13 Bình Dương unexpectedly earned a free kick.

It was precisely in this situation that the home team conceded a goal. Binh Duong's Nhat Huy took a long-range free kick aimed at goalkeeper Xuan Son's goal. Although it wasn't dangerous, after one touch, the SLNA U13 goalkeeper made a silly mistake, allowing the ball to fly into the net. This lack of decisiveness and concentration from the goalkeeper led to a tense penalty shootout, resulting in a 1-1 draw after regulation time.

Despite conceding an equalizer, Coach Nguyen Huy Hoang's players made no mistakes in the penalty shootout, even when it went to the eighth round. In the final penalty kick, goalkeeper Xuan Son redeemed himself by anticipating and successfully saving the opponent's shot, securing a breathtaking victory for the home team.

Having defeated Binh Duong, U13 SLNA advanced to the semi-finals. Their opponent will be U13 HAGL, the team that overcame SHB Da Nang in the first quarter-final match. This match will take place at 3:00 PM tomorrow at Vinh Stadium (July 15th).
