(Baonghean.vn) - The Vietnam U18 team had to bid a bitter farewell to the Southeast Asian U18 Football Championship from the group stage due to a goalkeeper's mistake.

STARTING LINEUP

Vietnam U18:YE Li Nie, Mai Sỹ Hoàng, Thái Bá Sang, Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh, Phạm Văn Luân, Lê Văn Xuân (Lê Minh Bình 67'), Lê Xuân Tú, Nguyễn Hồng Sơn (Đoàn Văn Hậu 53'), Trần Văn Công, Trần Bảo Toàn, Trương Tiến Anh (Lê Văn Nam 43').

Myanmar U18:Wai Yan Soe, Paing Htwe, Moe Khant, Moe Kyaw, Kaung Khant, Sone Naing, Naing Tun, Naing Ko Ko, Wunna Soe, Phyoe Wai, Maw Oo.

Goals: Hong Son (1'), Aung Khant (74'), Moe Aung (86').

In the previous match between U18 Indonesia and U18 Brunei, U18 Indonesia won with a score of 8-0, thus taking the top spot from U18 Vietnam.

This means that coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team must draw or win against U18 Myanmar to reclaim the top spot in the group and secure a place in the semi-finals. In the very first minute, U18 Vietnam scored the opening goal. Following a cross from the wing, Nguyen Hong Son finished accurately after a perfect pass from his teammate.

After scoring, the Vietnam U18 team proactively played a defensive counter-attacking game and remained focused from the start. The score at the end of the first 45 minutes remained 1-0 in favor of Vietnam U18.

In the second half, the Myanmar players performed slightly better but also committed quite a few malicious fouls. On the Vietnamese U18 side, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players maintained good defensive positioning and were ready to defend against the home team's attacks.

However, after a series of attacking opportunities created by both sides, in the 73rd minute, the score was leveled at 1-1 for the home team Myanmar. It was a direct free-kick shot that went over the wall by player number 8, Kaung Khant.

Having equalized, Myanmar surged forward, putting U18 Vietnam on the defensive. Ultimately, the worst-case scenario unfolded for Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team. In the 86th minute, YE Li Nie made a foolish mistake, failing to make a decisive move and gifting Moe Aung a goal, giving U18 Myanmar a 2-1 lead.

The U18 Vietnam goalkeeper will have deep regrets because in the remaining minutes, his team was unable to equalize and had to accept defeat. With this result, U18 Vietnam is officially eliminated and will have to watch their two opponents, Myanmar and Indonesia, advance to the semi-finals.
