The goalkeeper from Nghe An leads Southeast Asia in the number of clean sheets.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to statistics from ASEAN Football, Vietnamese football has 4 goalkeepers honored in the top 10 for most clean sheets, including 2 goalkeepers from Nghe An province.
The ASEAN Football website, a well-known publication in Southeast Asian football, has released statistics on the top 10 goalkeepers with the most clean sheets in domestic leagues during the 2020 season. The V.League has four goalkeepers honored, including two from Nghe An province.
Accordingly, four Vietnamese goalkeepers are in the top 10: Tran Nguyen Manh (Viettel), Pham Van Phong (Saigon), Bui Tan Truong (Hanoi), and Nguyen Van Hoang (SLNA). Notably, Nguyen Manh also excelled, leading the list with 10 clean sheets out of 20 appearances for Viettel.

The achievement of the player from Nghe An is on par with goalkeeper Chatchai Budprom of BG Pathung United in the Thai League. Viettel's first-ever V.League championship title owes a great deal to the defense, especially Nguyen Manh.
In phase 2 of V.League 2020,Nguyen ManhHe and his teammates won 6 out of 7 matches, including 5 wins with a 1-0 scoreline. He made many saves for Viettel and commanded the defense extremely well. In the 2019 V.League season, Nguyen Manh also had 9 clean sheets while playing for SLNA.
Another goalkeeper from Nghe An isVan HoangVan Hoang also had a memorable season with SLNA. Although the Nghe An team's performance wasn't very convincing and they only achieved their goal of avoiding relegation in V.League 2020, Van Hoang still played exceptionally well and kept seven clean sheets. During SLNA's strong start to the season, Van Hoang was a key factor in making a strong impression.
