(Baonghean.vn) - Fishermen in Quynh Luu (Nghe An) are actively venturing out to sea to catch seafood in large fishing grounds. This time, many '67-ton boats' brought in between 400 and 100 tons.600millionVND/ship/trip.

After three days and two nights of fishing in the common fishing grounds, the fishing vessel NA96588-TS, owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Trung and his crew from Quynh Long commune, brought in over 20 tons of various fish; mainly grouper, mackerel, tuna, squid, etc., with a value exceeding 600 million VND. Reportedly, this ship was built under Government Decree 67, costing 10.8 billion VND and with an engine power of 822 horsepower. Since its launch, this is its third voyage and also its most successful, so the crew is very excited and motivated to prepare for new journeys.

During this period, most fishing vessels from the communes of Quynh Long, Tien Thuy, Son Hai, Quynh Nghia, etc., achieved high yields after each fishing trip; some boats, after only two days and nights at sea, encountered large schools of fish and brought back 35-40 tons of various seafood, with each worker earning tens of millions of dong.

The fishing vessel number 67 has a large capacity, powerful engine, and new fishing gear, allowing it to venture into distant fishing grounds such as the Paracel Islands, Spratly Islands, Bach Long Vi, and the Gulf of Tonkin, resulting in higher yields.

Since the beginning of the year, fishermen in the coastal areas of Nghe An province have had a bumper catch of tuna, squid, mackerel, etc. Currently, tuna prices at the port are 110,000 - 115,000 VND/kg, mackerel 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg, squid 100,000 - 120,000 VND/kg... On average, each boat earns over 500 million VND per trip.

Seafood arriving at the docks is immediately purchased by traders, then sorted and transported to cold storage facilities and markets. Payment is also processed quickly so that fishermen have capital to prepare for the next fishing trip.

According to statistics, from the beginning of the year until now, Quynh Luu district is estimated to have harvested more than 15,000 tons of seafood, worth nearly 400 billion VND, reaching 25% of the plan and exceeding the same period in 2016 by 21%. Many seafood sources such as grouper, snapper, mackerel, etc., have been purchased by traders for processing and export.

Recognizing that marine fisheries are a key economic sector, Quynh Luu district has paid special attention to supporting fishermen in investing in fishing infrastructure and encouraging the construction of large-capacity vessels. Of the nearly 1,300 boats and ships in total, over 700 are large-capacity vessels, with 37 of them built under Decree 67.

"In the commune with the oldest fishing tradition in Quynh Luu district."
