Following its success at over 200 billion VND, director Thu Trang shifted her focus to the romantic genre with the film 'Who Loves Whom, Who Cherishes', set in the Mekong Delta in the 1960s.

Following the box office success of her debut film 'Billion-Dollar Kiss', which grossed over 200 billion VND during the 2025 Lunar New Year, director Thu Trang has officially announced her second film project titled 'Who Loves Whom?'. This marks a significant shift as she chooses to explore the romance genre, a departure from her previous work.
Set in the Mekong Delta region during the 1960s, the film promises to portray a simple, unpretentious story, yet one filled with profound emotions about the people of this area. Thu Trang stated that she has gained more experience and become more proactive in her directing work over the past time.
Pressure and belief in emotional storytelling.
Sharing her thoughts on the new project, Thu Trang admitted that the biggest pressure doesn't come from the competitive film market, but from whether audiences are willing to accept a gentle, profound story about life. In a context where action and horror films dominate, a sad romance might be a niche choice.
However, the director expressed her belief that a story told from the heart will touch the audience's emotions. "If I put my heart into it, the audience will feel it," she shared. According to Thu Trang, the film was created from her own memories, nostalgia, and affection for her family. She hopes the work will evoke family connections, making viewers want to return home and cherish their loved ones.
The surprising character designs and cast
Along with the project announcement, the first poster for 'Who Loves Whom' was also released, surprising viewers with Thu Trang's portrayal as the actress. She appears with white hair, a wrinkled face, and a melancholic gaze, a stark contrast to her usual image.
Besides Thu Trang, the film also features actors such as Hong Anh, Vo Dien Gia Huy, Tram Anh, and child actor Le Hao. 'Who Loves Whom' is expected to be released in theaters in January 2026.
